Planning a tube mod

Hey folks. I've got a couple of mods under my belt so far. First mod was a 5V box tethered to a wall wart. I've also put together a couple small evercool box mods. I'm thinking about trying my hand at an evercool tube mod. I'm leaning towards CR123's because of their short stature and decent battery life. The real question I keep running into is what to use for a tube. Flashlights look fairly easy, but they tend to look like flashlights and pvc is rather bulky. I've considered copper, but I'm not really a fan of the look. Aluminum would be pretty awesome I think, but making end caps seems to be problematic. I do not have access to equipment, nor the skill, to make my own.

Curious to see if anyone has any suggestions. Hoping to keep it as small as possible and lightweight.

you can sure spend a lot of time shopping for tubes, but making your own will probably be better

my flashlight mod was supposed to save me time, but even simple washers had to be massaged to a ridiculous degree...wish i'd just designed something different now.

now I can imagine a tube with a simple plug held in with a pin thru the side - maybe double as a wire connector so i can bury circuit protection in the tailpiece

if you look at my post about etching copper it touches on brush anodizing, so with pretty much any metal you can easily add color or texture...more options perhaps

another option i'm looking at is 1" square tubing (plastic -got a free sample) to hold a board or two easier
