I wanted to try to speed steep my juice by using hot tap water and let it soak,I did it a few times to a few of my favorite blend, but when I went to vape it,seemed like it had a slight plastic taste, like it took on the taste of the bottle.. Not sure if I'm just crazy, but my last juice that I just normally aged tasted great.. Just sucks cause its about $90 in juice.. Just wondering if anyone ever had this happen, another thing is I used a ultrasonic cleaner to steep this juice and that keeps the water warm to the touch..

Depending on what kind of plastic the juice is stored in. even a low amount of heat, say from setting it in warm water, can degrade the plastic. That's one reason it isn't advisable to reuse margarine tubs, sour cream tubs, etc, even though im sure we all do, right? i mean, free tupperware! if the plastic is pliable(squishy), you shouldn't expose it to heat, sunlight.
If you want to accelerate the aging process, maybe use a mason jar in a hot water bath (or ultrasonic cleaner i guess) next time. I wish I knew how to fix that taste. Don't think my cure all add a potato will fix this one.

I've never tried the speed-steeping thing...usually just let it sit for a few days. Some thoughts: The bottle may not have been clean enough from the start. Did you rinse it thoroughly first? Did you use the ultrasonic thing to clean it before mixing? I rinse mine with PGA (Vodka would work too) several times before using a new bottle. If re-using a bottle, I also let it set overnight, filled with vinegar (wife said it will remove odor from old liquid) and rinse again until vinegar smell is out.

Perhaps speed-steeping would work better in a glass bottle, and transfer to plastic once cool?

Some great information on how to speed steep juice is here. Justin, I steep my DIY juice in hot water in the U/S cleaner in plastic bottles so far. Have not tasted plastic yet, but that's just my experience with my taste buds (after 35 + years of smoking). I would ask in the DIY juice forum for a better answer to this question. Just my :2c:
