Cosican. You know what I am tired of? Being slammed for being a newbie! This e-thing is only a few years old for Pete's sake. I never heard of it a month ago or dreamed such a thing could be possible. Some new members find thier way here looking for information, encouragement and fellowship in this new world. What we hear is "stupid question" Dumb noobs" "wasting my time repeating myself".
Well here it is all you old timers..Answer the questions, point us to the right links or stay out of the new member section. And quit slamming us for being new.
It's not our fault we weren't on the first bus. But it does behoove (love that word) us who are new to take the time to do a bit of homework and watch the intro videos before yelling..what now!
If you joined just to rag on some poor supplier..shame on you! Just e-mail them on thier site before you drag them through the mud.
By the way it's not all of you, just a few. Most of you were welcoming and informative. It's not all of us Newbies who are a pain in the ... just a few. Maybe it's just me.
Pet peeve walked and calmed down.
Ok Now back to let's all get along..lol

Mary NO ONE is slammin every NEWBIE on the board, I am as willing and wanting to be as helpful to anyone that has a question that has atleast SOME merit. To come on the board and ask a question, that has 6533 threads on it, already right on the board, just seems senseless,'There are people that come on to create ILL WILL. and there are many that have a lot to offer,. So, Please do not take it personally,

At the same time, nothing I have said, is directed to anyone person
As for Dumswaldo's comment about no one should be on this site if they put their head to the pillow and are upset about a comment, I was trying to create IMAGINGY, guess I did not do a good job at that. I am not suggesting anyone goes crying to bed, cos, they were called something, However, I cannot say I like it
By the way Dum, I was born and raised in Manhatten and moved south when I was 33. So, trust me when I understand the NY mentality, I did take that with me,. Along with my many years of drug addiction too many, So I can handle s bad name or ten. All I ask is lets see if this can be a warmer andf gentler place to hang

I get a little tired of some of the battles on this forum. Debate and an honest exchange of opinions should be encouraged, but folks don't have to get downright ugly and nasty in the process. I don't expect everyone to agree with everything I say, but I do expect that if someone disagrees, that they will do so in a fairly courteous manner.

I think it's important to remember that there are real people behind these screen names. When I post, I try to post in a manner such that if someone knew my real name, I wouldn't feel embarrassed by my comments. Basically, I try to write like my Mom's reading my posts. ;) Sometimes I fall short, but I really do try.

Anyway, I think most folks on the forum are generally quite helpful and kind. It's a shame that a vocal minority seems intent on bringing down the general level of civility.

Thanks, Cosican, for the reminder that it costs us nothing to be kind.

Don't let it get to you MaryKay. Any goober that calls you a dumb newbie isn't worth talking to. They have as much class as a fart in church, and will most likely give you a wrong answer.

If you study their words, you'll be able to picture what they look like. Have a good laugh, and move on to better things.

Oh Cos, I do agree with you on the point that some people just like to cause trouble. I have been on a lot of forums and ran one myself, There are always bad apples, that's why there are mods. But I have noticed a trend to slam newbies. (just in the short while I have been here) In no way did I mean you or even the majority of people on the board. I also agree that new people need to do thier due dilligence before asking who, what or how long does an atty last.
I just want people to be aware that some comments demean or at least push people away from the forum.
Without new blood a forum dies a slow boring death.
Thanks for replying.

What we do have to watch out for is that the discussion doesn't degenerate into personal attacks, name calling and lack of respect for those differing opinions.

You're partially right. Lately, there have been a few threads here, that started out as personal attacks, and grew from there.

As far as discussions go, there are a few here that have absolutely no class when it comes to discussing a subject. If you feel I'm wrong, you can say you disagree or ask my source, or post your view. But *don't* tell me "your full of s**t", or "You don't know what you're talking about". That don't sit too well with me.

I try to discuss a subject as if I were talking to a person face to face. If I were talking to *some* of these people face to face, I'd be opening a big ol' can of whoop-....

MaryKay . . . I love Newbies. :) Another newbie is another person won to the cause. :D

Vaping has allowed me to kick a 30 year, 2+ pack a day tobacco habit. I honestly feel like vaping has probably saved my life. I am very mindful that the success I have enjoyed with vaping is due in large part to folks who have taken the time to answer "dumb newbie" questions for the 100th time. I might not always have been the person asking the question, but I lurked and learned. ;)

I think folks who don't have the patience to deal with basic questions ought to stay off the newbie forum. People who don't know how to share their thoughts without being ugly likewise need to stay off the newbie forum. The newbie forum ought to be the kindest, most gentle place on this tiny corner of the internet. :)

Thank you Marykay, I lurked here for quite sometime before joining and then lurked alittle more. I have posted several positive transactions that I've had and one that dissapointed me somewhat but it is my choice where to spend my money and all is lessons learned. I do like to read the reviews on suppliers and their products. It was reading and suggestions from informed members that helped me make my first purchase. I have been leary of posting several times about some experience that I've had because senior members make remarks re: long threads that repeat things, fine I say, but then why are there threads with 200plus posts that are .....y, attitudes and hurtfulness all in the name of "discussion"? I have learned so much here and many of you have responded to my newbie questions respectfully and I appriecate that. If I wanted to listen to a bunch of whinin and complaining from some folks who are never wrong I could of stayed married!

Aw, come on. You know that song is awesome ;). I love this place too, and it would be great if we could be one big happy family (for the most part we are :)), but there's always bad seeds. Negativity breeds negativity and that's the last friggin thing we need right now. FDA bans, "liars", "cheats", nicotine withdraws, these things have taken over.
We all just need a little love for our fellow vapers and rejoice and be thankful that we're no longer "smokers". Just stay positive and it will shine through :).

I came back after Kate's "ban" because I thought it made more sense to fight the destruction of the boards with kindness and love and I hoped Kate would come help. She came back.. but not with full force. I don't blame her. The ugliness has grown so big it is hard to fight now... so we all just ignore the ugliness and try to see the boards through rose colored glasses so we can continue posting without feeling guilty! But every new vaper is another potential army member for the "cause" so I will stay and organize the army for the big war.

I must admit I think that this place
is going downhill fast.

The decline has been increasing in speed,
AND VENOM,
since early this year.

It is no wonder most of the old members have all but dissapeared,
it is not the same place it was 6 months ago when I joined.

Di ......

Di, HI I have posted the same sentiment in a prior post. So, my questions is WHY and can it be turned around? or are all forums doomed this way, This is my first forum I have participated in, I found it very helpful in overcoming the analog addiction, I have no intentions of moving away from vaping, although I do not enjoy this site the way I first did., I know so so many feel the same way, My options are the stay and help to warm it back up a bit, or just go on my way>>

If you or anyone have any thougths on the warming up process, please help me,
d

I honestly don't know how to turn this downward trend around.

I wish I did, I would love for all the new members to experience the warmth and helpful advice and jokes that we did as newbies.

I wonder if it is because the membership has grown so much and so fast, that we are now inundated with new members who are all in nicotine withdrawal, and so are very edgy and not able to control their posting emotions......

The suppliers have multiplied like bloody rabbits,
and I am sure most of them have absolutely no business experience, and hence the myriads of service and product problems.

I would suggest that everyone should take a deep breath,
count to 20 before you post anything,
then make sure it is nice.......

if you have supplier issues, with product, or service,
send them an email by the website,
then send them a PM,
if that fails,
post it on their own forum,
NEVER POST YOUR SUPPLIER ISSUES PUBLICLY.
It does no good for anyone.
If you are not happy, get your money back and buy elsewhere.

Mods should be alert, and much quicker to remove bad
posts to the Outside area.
and if it is a nasty blatant flame for no good reason,
remove it, and warn the poster.

This is a place for exchanges of ideas, help with product use,
helping each other to get the best from our e-cigs,
and thereby get away from the deadly tobacco.

Try to play nice people, pleeeeeeeeeeeeez ......

everyone who is concerned about the tone here,
give it another month,
I will, then ............

Di ......
