My suggestion is to try out a Kanger Aerrotank Mega with either the .8ohm or 1ohm coils. I was using a ce4 and an ego battery when I first started, then picked up a mechanical mod and some older tanks, then into RBAs, and a couple KFL clones which I could never get right (always leaked/flooded), and now that I'm using the Aerotank Mega I'm in love again.

Watch this video for a leak-free and dry-hit free experience with your Kayfun. Works a charm.

you can maybe find one in the classies but to get a brand new one go to reosmods.com

you'd want a REO Grand LP edition, and the LP Reomizer. those 2 = like $200 on the dot, ok? then, you'll need some kanthal wire, a measily 7 bucks on eBay for 100 feet, will last you months if not longer. then, you want organic or sterle cotton, get a bag for $4 t wll last at least a year or 2. maybe much more lol.

ok then you'll need some odds and ends...you need an ohm reader but you've got an MVP2 so I just use that and you can too. you'll need some batteries, they're about $10 a piece, and a good charger, I spent about $40 on mine but you could get one for more like $20. we're up to ~$250 or something?

you'll need drill bits or a tiny screw driver to wrap the wire on. you'll need a tiny little screwdriver to screw down the screws which hold your coil ends.

unless i'm forgetting something, that's about it.

really I'd be happy to have a phone discussion with you if you ever want to *talk* with someone about it

edit - also need tweezers, and scissors or nail clippers

Are you using organic cotton? I just got my first bag and wicked the reo with it. I HATE it! I have to squonk about twice as often, frequent dry hits. I use regular old cosmetic cotton, do not boil, do not wash, do not disinfect, do take out to dinner, just pull that lil sucker apart, wick, squonk and vape. I watched the Phil Brusardo video on wicking materials (all 47+ minutes of it, yawn) AFTER I had ordered the organic only to learn that it is basically a rotten wicking material.

I don't have any KGD and I am not going to buy any. I do have some cellucotton (rayon) and I am going to use that from now on. Oh, and I am going to get some ceramic wick that has been kiln treated to try in the future. Anyway, if you think it is good with organic cotton, you will be very pleased with regular cotton or rayon. Even peaches and cream yarn is better than the organic cotton.

The organic might be better if it were washed to break the surface tension but I am not going through that.

Or you can come up to my house and pick some up...:2cool:

cdont be nervous about a REO - i was too

Both of you, get verified for the Classifieds here.

If you don't like your REO, put it up. they rarely last more than 24 hours in the classifieds.

Then, you are verified and can buy other stuff from other members here who are upgrading.

That is pretty much how I conducted my entire vape journey for 2 years

as for iClear, I personally think Kanger coils are the worst on the planet, so not sure why a protank would be an upgrade to an iclear LOL Personally, I have foudn the little joyetech atties to be miles above anything kanger ever made, but the problem is that the joyetech atties on go in little devices by joyetech that use them, unless you are using one of their 510 atties on your PV for dripping or something. Cisco beats those any day for over the counter stuff.

I'm sure an RBA would be better than any of these things, if you wanted to build your own coils and which isn't hard at all.

It won't matter what battery you use, if you're using over the counter clearomizers, I don't think you will be happy. I even prefer 1.7ohm smok shorty cartos on a REO over *any* clearo on the planet LOL

I feel something simple, and cheap, like one of the new nautilus minis would be an appropriate step. If you want to try dripping you can pick up a igo-w for around ten dollars on some sites. You don't have to pony $200 or more to get decent flavor.

I don't understand all the hype around the reos. They appear to be pretty limited imho. While they seem like great little devices, especially for people who can't be bothered to take a cap off and drip, they are rather limited as to which atomizers you can use. I love variety. I love innovation. I've got my sights set on a plumeveil, if and when the next batch hits the market. So please, tell me why all the reo trumpeting? Seriously, sell me on this product. The fervor reminds me of the provari fanatics lol. I know this is sacrilege to some of you, and please keep in mind that I'm asking to be converted. I should have probably just started a thread..lol.

When you spend a lot of time at home where dripping is easy you probably wouldn't notice a difference. But for those who have huge commutes or hiking around like sloth it is dripping while using it like a rudimentary tank and ego setup.

Dripping: *vapevapevape* *drip drip drip* *vapevapevape* etc. two hands needed and do not drip and drive....

Reo: *vapevapevape* *squonk* *vapevapevape* etc. one hand used, can squonk and drive, climb mountains, wrestle yeti...

It doesn't suit everyone but the result is amazing if you never could drip while out and about but still want the dripping experience. :thumb:

And you can not like them or ever buy the hype and you're still family!!

Look at it this way. You get all of the pleasures of dripping with out the hassle of doing so. The device is very pocket friendly, operates with one hand, puts out all of the flavor of dripping and my favorite part, it sits well on the desk and is ready and waiting to use while I am fiddling with all my other crap.

( and before we say the same thing about the KF's, this comes from a man who is fortunate enough to be able to have a pair of Provari's, three Russians and no less than six KFL's which I still use as well. Not bragging, just saying)

I really do disagree about the baby steps, but that's of course why the forums are so awesome - she asks a question, gets a lot of different answers and opinions and can think for herself. But, I utterly fail to see how skipping the in-beweens would cause problems per se, given the REO is so easy to use and work with and has a ceramic base which eliminates one way of shorting out your coil.

That said, if an in-between is cheap so she can see what dripping is like, go for it, but I didn't ever drip before and will never touch a standard dripper. no reason to now that I've got a REO.

not at all arguing or even debating your advice or anybody else's - just tossing in another 2 cents about the skipping to a REO causing hassle. I don't think that's true.

edit - if she gets that igo thing you mention, she can go a little lower than 1.5 ohm as an MVP2 will work at 1 ohm and above. just fyi OP if you go that route but want a lower resistance (I find that 1.2-1.6 ohms are my favorite so far)

You make excellent points. I hope mine are almost as cogent. Getting a dripper is never a bad idea. I like to run new juice through the drip test to determine if I like it, if I am willing to put it in my Reo (not all juice is Reo worthy, ya know?) or, if not the Reo, where?

I have several different drippers because I got them at near nothing from the Vaper's Festival and from a local B&M. I use my Helios clone the most. It does leak a wee bit from the air holes. It has only one side air holes in the air flow control cause, well, it is cheap and not made like the original. I also use my Patriot clone quite a bit as well. I like them both. I will be adding a Veritas clone in the near future cause it is just da bomb for flavor (so the Family here says). I do not pay a lot of money for these. If I love one and the original is supposedly much, much better, I will save up for that. So far, clones are just fine for me.

I have 4 regulated mods: ZMax, Vamo 2 (PURPLE!) and two MVPs. I use all 4 of them every day. Love them. The MVPs will die one day cause I cannot replace the batteries in them. I will be sad.

I have lots of mechanical mods and I won't bore you with a list. I got most of them very, very cheaply by watching sales, buying at the Vaper's Festival and ordering from China directly or through co-ops. I have them in storage for the most part (three are in use at this time) for future needs. If the FDA shuts down sales, I want to be set for life. I think I might be.

If a person were to get an inexpensive mechanical mod such as a Nemesis clone and a good charger and about 4 good batteries and a dripper (clones are easy to buy at under $20 here in the USA) and a volt meter, they would not be wasting money IMHO. The charger, batteries and volt meter would transfer to the Reo when it was purchased. The dripper and mech mod are always good to have, no matter what. The coil building materials are cheap and easy to come by with or without FDA interference. Just seems like a win - win to me!

Every vape I took, every step I took, everything I bought brought me to the Reo. I am happy to be here. I wish I hadn't wasted so much money on the cartos and clearos that I now hate but I have had lots to PIF to folks who were starting out. Also, I keep my ProTanks, my AeroTank, Mega Tank, My Nautilus and my Aspire ETS tanks close at hand. I still use some combination of them daily as well as my Kayfun.

Long story short, as long as a person does not smoke, maybe there is no wrong or right way. I don't begrudge the $$ I have spent. It has been one hell of a journey! Loving my vape!

Oh and lest I forget, I am one of the luckiest women in the world. I was gifted my Reo by the NT Family for my first year smober day. I didn't and do not have the $$ for a Reo but I am getting closer to my second. I have bought the bottom fed Cyclone 2014 and the only other thing I need is the Reo itself. My piggy bank is filling quickly. Soon my precious, soon!

ncolwell,

Come hang out in Reoville a bit, check out the tutorials, and see why Reonauts are so happy with our squonk boxes :)

There ya go! watch lots of coil building videos and Reos videos and just lots of videos on vaping. I watched so many I should have been able to build my first coil in the dark! Instead, I put the video up on the TV and kept pausing it as I got to the next step! LOL. It was a blast watching it on a big screen and working along with it.

Yeah, the videos make it look really easy and give you confidence to try yourself. I even watch the really complicated builds although I am not interested in doing any of them. I am just fine with a nice little micro coming in around 1.3 ohms.

Yes, you need to use a bottom feeder. The good thing is, Rob (the Reo dude) just came out with several different new styles in which to choose from.

Yep, and he and Valhali (sp?) are making another one just for the Dibi and Reo. Calling it the Nuppin. Looks great and will probably be easy to work on.
