Hello,

I am trying to use TC for the first time. While most of it seems straightforward I could use help with the last setup function on my Smoks.

I set to temp
I set to 130w
I pick SS
then it asks me to set what I think are the normal ohms?
If my coil is a .15 but reads .17 do I set it to .00150 or .00170?
Or is that part something else entirely?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

What Smok mod and more importantly what tank? If it's a Smok tank like a BB or BBB (and tfv8 and 12) the factory coils are all Kanthal and cannot be used for TC. Unless you build out the RBA with your own temp control coils of Ni, Ti, or SS.

Alien 220 and GX350, TFV8 and 12 respectively. The back of the box for the replacement coils says they are SS?

No the prebuilt replacement coils are for wattage mode only. Now if you got an RBA section and built your own coils with wire for TC then you could use temp mode. :):)

Hm guess I was wrong, so Ill have to learn to build or just stick with wattage mode. Thanks all.

Hi Aus
I'd learn to build if I were you, it really isn't hard. I switched my Baby Beasts over to their RBA and found the result was even better for taste than the store boughts, cheaper too.

Its something I have been wanting to do but I want to finish off the pre mades I have stocked up so they dont end up being a waste of money. Then I want to give it a try.

Why? Isn't SS, SS?
Often the body of the coil head is made of SS.
That does not automatically indicate that the wire used is also SS.

OP: A picture of the box that states "SS" may help to avoid further confusion.

Cheers

I build, and stock up on pre made coils even though I only use them once in a while. Never know with the FDA when and if coils will be either taxed (by state) or altogether gone.

Where it says stainless on the back is where it says it for my BB coils as well.

I wouldn't feel too bad, at least you weren't like the newbie on my home forum about 8 months back who's first post on our forum was only because as his first post explained...because he gone out that day and bought a hand cannon 200w mod, whacked on a tank with a nickel coil in it, set the mod to 150w and pressed the fire button and wanted to know where the coil went.... apparently it appeared to be a molten glob...

We kindly pointed out one doesn't fire nickel/titanium coils in VW mode....temp control only

I hate manufacturers who have made bonkers high wattage mods the new normal...kiddies see the big numbers, buy into the more must be better marketing, don't read or research anything and adjust their stupidity accordingly, and fire the bloody things off at the wrong end of the scale for a newbie...and then they sign up to a forum where we have to clean up after the event..we should be on retainers

Thankfully we haven't come across anyone quite that special in a while

Do not feel bad I would not have caught that either. I just bought my first Walgreens pair of "Little old lady can't read" spectacles the other day. And I hate glasses, I had them from age 5 until.... I think I was about 15 when I whined enough at my parents that they got me contacts. :) God, I hate that bridge of the nose feeling....
