If it is shrink wrapped or has rubber tape around it, leave that on the Kick unit.

The side with the adjustable pot should be placed in the top (silver) sleeve of the K100 with the pot at the top (towards the 510 atomizer connection). If your Kick model has a 'spring pin' avoid getting that get stuck in one of the three vent holes near the threads of the K100's silver sleeve as you insert it.

Next push a charged 18490/18500 or 18350 size IMR high drain battery in with the positive post up (towards the K100's 501 connection). Note, the K100 is NOT long enough to Kick an 18650 battery.

With the end cap (button assembly) already finger tight on the middle section of the K100 (the colored aluminum portion) thread the K100 together until finger tight. Avoid making this too tight as it can crush some Kicks. Once it is down finger tight unlock the button and push it. If it only goes in a tiny amount you can loosen the silver sleeve some until the button barely makes contact to the negative end of the battery when pushed (the button will go almost all the way in).

If it's not together tight enough, it won't make contact so give the aluminum sleeve small partial turns to tighten until the button makes light but solid contact with the negative end of the battery. Yes, the spring inside will need to compress a little for the button to make contact. You might also feel or hear a little noise as the battery centers itself with the button assembly.

With the K100, it's important to adjust it (back it out by turning the silver sleeve) so the button doesn't 'dent' in the bottom of your batteries if you drop it, or get in a habit of 'pushing' the button pretty hard.

Now screw on an atomizer/cartomizer/tank and enjoy.

If you find that the K100 button is leaving little cuts and dents in the bottom of your batteries, it doesn't hurt to grind or sand the contact point of the K100 button nice and smooth...down to the brass. Again, be careful not to crank the mod together 'too tight'...back it out some...you just want the button to make contact with the battery...not jam up and poke a hole in it (or crush a Kick or Crown regulator).

Be careful not to 'mash' the heck out of the button on a K100. It can be an easy habit to get into (subconscious action as the battery runs out...pushing it harder isn't going to recharge the battery). You only need enough push to make contact.

Another helpful tip: If you use 18350 or un-kicked 18490/18500 batteries, consider putting a thin layer of electrical tape just above the threads on the silver portion of the mod. It'll prevent the silver sleeve from getting scratched up in the smaller telescoping modes.

hope the pic shows up, but the side that has the adjustment screw goes up so the other side should make contact with the positive end of your battery
