Hi guys, hope ya'll doing well. I got this ZAP a week ago. Long story short, the center post (picture 1) is poping up and causing a really tight draw since it is push hard against the top cap. Sometimes, it won't even fire and I have to push it down in order to fire. (Picture 2). and after about 30 mins the center post would pop back up..... Pictures are taken while the ZAP on the provari.

I was thinking to super glue it but worry that the heat will make it toxic. Please advise how to fix it, it is greatly appreciated!!

with the center post touching the cap im surprised it would fire at all. this should be a direct short.
i would disassemble all of it and check the washers, screws etc. also if the post is able to move it means the whole shaft from the battery connector to the post is moving and the top post probably needs to be tightened up

while its popped up unscrew it and watch the bottom when you push it back in, if you see the battery connection pop out then the top screw is just loose most likely.

i'm having the exact same problem.

oxbu2.jpg

had my ZAP for about 2 weeks or so and it started doing it lately.

seems like the center post is covered in rubber and hte condensed vapor/juice is lubing it up causing it to pop up because of the spring loaded/pogo center pin.

i'm not sure how to fix this.

i bought it locally too (bought it new, im assuming the B&M placed an order with provape directly then sold at a small markup) so i dont know that anything can be done :(

Believe it or not this is caused by the glue coming loose. Yes the glue, that Zen~ uses to secure the delrin center post shaft to the center tube in the atty. If you pull the shaft all the way out you'll find the remnants of this glue either stuck to the delrin, or inside the atty's center tube.

I just bought a ZAU from the classies and had this happen when I attempted to disassemble it for cleaning. I did some reading and found that Zen~ has acknowledged this as a known issue. Apparently he appeared on someone's web show and demonstrated how to glue it back in place...

Needless to say I'm a bit perturbed at this considering the price of the unit in question.

I had the same problem with mine a few days ago. I used some super glue at the step in the delrin post. So far it seems to be working fine and I doubt that area heats up enough to be a concern. Very disappointing for the price of this rba it should be built better.

Hi!

Same problem here also. I'd like to try to fix this myself also, rather than sending it back.

If you have a moment, when you say, "...super glue at the step in the delrin post," what do you mean? How much glue did you use? Did you completely remove the delrin post to do this?

Thank you for your time!

(And hopefully I don't screw this up!)

Yes, I did remove the post and washed it off with just water, dried with vaportowel.

When you remove the center post you will see the step, I used just a small bead around that step and pushed the delrin post back into place and gave it about an hour and a half to set.

I also had an issue with the SS post that threads into the delrin post coming loose when trying to loosen my top screw, so I also used Super Glue on a few of the top threads on that piece to hold it In place a bit better.

From what I read Zen~ says the glue needs to go at the bottom near the connector pin. I'd be nervous about putting it up at the step as my whole top deck heats up pretty good during setup and dry burns.

Do you have a link to Zen's fix for the problem? I haven't had a problem yet; but I'd like to be prepared, in case it comes up.

Where did you get this info?

I wouldn't be too concerned about any out gassing during dry burns/setup since I'm not vaping during those times. The biggest issue would be the possibility of the glue joint failing due to heat. That said it probably would be best to have the adhesive as low as possible. My thought process was that even if I applied the super glue near the bottom of the delrin post as the post was inserted the glue would be scraped off and would pool at the step any way.

Out of concern for possible out gassing I did a quick search and found this. The fumes from CA are a vaporized form of the cyanoacrylate monomer that irritate sensitive membranes in the eyes, nose, and throat. They are immediately polymerized by the moisture in the membranes and become inert. I would assume that dried CA fumes should pose little if any threat.?.

I started searching for a fix on this forum and when I searched for "z atty glue" I came across this post.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...00 House of Hybrids featuring the Zenesis PV

And some further searching yielded a bit more info.

When I pulled the post all the way out, the glue from the factory was at the bottom end towards the 510 connection. I'm thinking the method would be to fully insert the post, then back it off a bit on the 510 end, apply a tiny bit of glue to the inside of the shaft, then slide the post into place.

I posted over at the Zen~ Family Reunion thread asking if anyone can walk me through the process, so I'll have to see what comes of it.

Thanks DarklyNoon & Buzzsaw46!

A few weeks after I got my Z Atty Pro, I remember seeing a crusty, foam-like residue that seemed to be coming from the center tube, and thinking that it looked like Gorilla Glue. This residue cleaned off easily and the atomizer worked so wonderfully that I ignored this.

One morning about two months ago, I discovered that my Provari/Z Atty Pro wouldn't fire. The pin had retracted back into the atomizer during the night...somehow...perhaps something to do with no use, no heat, and 50-something degree living room? Taking things apart would cause that pin to pop back down and to resume making contact with the terminal on the device.

I had emailed House of Hybrids regarding this issue and never received a response. I've also been monitoring the House of Hybrids site because I'd like to order some more wicks and a cobalt-colored tank, but they haven't been accepting orders for about two to three months now. Combining all of this stuff, I'm a bit frustrated.

I'm going to clean the atomizer tonight, apply some gel super glue near where the bases of the delrin insert and center tube meet and wherever this "step" is, and let it sit overnight.

Thanks again!
