Bangor Flight Diverted; Passenger Removed - WABI TV5

Bangor flight headed to Florida Monday was diverted to Virginia, and a man escorted off the plane.

According to CNN, the Allegiant flight that was destined for St. Petersburg had to make an unscheduled landing at Norfolk International Airport after a passenger lit an electronic cigarette while onboard.

CNN says an attendant asked the passenger to put it out and the passenger became upset.

Upon landing in Norfolk around 1:30 Monday afternoon, police took the man into custody.

The passenger's name has not been released.

What's sad is that this guy was probably told by some idiot running a kiosk that they could be used ANYWHERE.

This debate is endless, as there are those that think we should be militant and assert our rights.
And there are those that think if we push too hard we will turn the public against us.

Sorry folks, the latter group is correct, not the former.
I'm sorry that is the reality of the situation, but being a ......... is not the way to change it.

The problem is that this guy is actually probably what we need. I mean if you look at the headlines for when rosa parks got on the white bus. The very first headlines were.

Black woman arrested on white bus.

The article probably reads something very similar to this, and I am willing to bet there were a whole lot of black people, a non protected sect at the time, who said whatever you do, don't be this guy. We have to start standing up for ourselves.

We have to start vaping where we would not normally smoke, and when they try to give us problems, We have to make them very publically prove that their reasons are valid, and we have to start making our voices heard.

Do I think this guy was wrong hell no, why do we have to be the ones to turn the other cheek and validate their fear?

It's interesting to see how some already know what this person did and are judging away. Smarter than me for sure.
I think we are just commenting on the concept, not the individual case here.

At least I know I am.
:)

However, I will say that I find it hard to imagine how a plane gets diverted and a guy gets kicked off unless he was being a ..........
I'm sure it's not impossible, I'm just sayiing I find it hard to imagine.

The guy probably wasn't Stealth vaping
Yeah, I've stealth vaped on three flights, with no issues.
But you can be sure if anyone saw me, and they asked me to stop, I would stop.

An airplane is not the right place to make a stand.
In fact, it is the very LAST place to make a stand on vaping.

Let me ask you a question I bet you i can name every single douchbag on the radio off the top of my head, and some of them I have never listened to. But i can maybe name three sweet and innocent people.

The point is that being a douchbag is harsh, but it is what gets peoples attention. To quote an old movie pump up the volume.

Talk hard, live hard. If we turn the other cheek people are not going to hear us, if our voices are the squeak of mice, while the opposing views are so loud that a jet engine could not turn it off, we are going to be drown out.

and by the way according to my mother who was there when rosa parks was arrested, she says have the people she knew at the time had no idea who rosa parks was. it was the headlines that made them pay attention.

My point is, that we keep telling people the realities of the science, and praying they will listen but when I look at articles in papers, a great many of them will have a huge paragraph of what the FDA is saying a couple lines of what we are. Because we are the ones not that loud, we are the ones that are pretty easy to ignore. Because we are the ones trying to be Politically correct, and judging by the amount of attempted bans maybe its time to something different.

If this was a war, the point we are at would be time for a new strategy.

True, but I still stand by what I said.

People who saw the headlines were outraged at the treatment afforded Rosa Parks.
They were ready.

People who see this headline are going to be against us at this point.
They are not ready yet.

We have to win public sentiment if we EVER hope to gain public support.
That's my feeling, but as I said, this debate will never end.

Couldn't have said it better. Being a pain in the .... never changes people's perceptions. +1

I am sorry i disagree with you both, and as someone who loves history. History tells us that being a pain in the ... is the only way to get people to change their minds because its the only way to get them to listen.

Rosa parks arrested for going on a white bus.

Prohibition only ending because of the St. Valentine's Day massacre in 1929 Until this point people thought the war on Alcohol was going well.

The war on drugs, people are only now starting to realize that it is failing, and that just maybe regulation is better than banning, because its violent and in their faces.

Should be do the same here to stop the prohibitions that they want to put on us? NO but a no violent rosa parks. being arrested on a bus, or a man getting kicked from a plane for vaping. Is a good start. because I am sorry but the way you are advocating right now. It has been tried. In the 60's and In the 20's for alcohol.

Oh they will not ban it, its just a bunch of house wives mad at their men drinking to much.

Oh they won't ban it its just the man trying to flex their muscles. Don't worry about it man, if we just keep to our selves we will be fine.

Look where that got us.
