Please recommend a decent Multimeter

I bought a Cen-Tech which I knew "you get what you pay for" and I bought a 25$ Digital Multimeter(Commercial Electric MAS830). Both are very inconsistent. Can someone recommend a better Multimeter?

I work with electronics for a living and I've always used Fluke.

Depending on what you wish to spend, Fluke is one of the best.
As a mechanic for the last 22 years, I made my living with a Fluke and own 2.... 1 for home and 1 for work.

I work on electronics for a living and I too will recommend fluke as one of the best. If all you are using it for is checking coils it might be a bit overkill for you but It will probably be the last multimeter you will need to buy

Check mark Fluke... they are the best. But if you are simply a hobbyist than keep it under $30. Most will be fairly accurate and lack all the bells and whistles that will add to the confusion. I have 5 or 6 cheap multi's and I abuse them on a regular basis... even have an oscilloscope for kicks.

Fluke is probably about the best, but generally pricey. I have a Greenlee DM-20 that I picked up from Lowe's that works very well for the $25 I paid for it. Only thing I don't like about it are the wired-in leads.

Works for me, nice leads and you can get additional type leads with the $$ you saved. Fluke is always recommended, just expensive for this use.

The Fluke is a little out of my range but I was looking at the Klein Tools mm200 or the Extech EX330. I'm open to other options in the 30-50 range.

While I'm in agreement with the Fluke as stated above, (One of my 4 is over 30yrs old) I also have a little Craftsman that I have had for about 15yrs & paid $15 or so for it then. Only things I've done to that one is replace leads & battery.

The problem is reliable low ohms reading. That's tough to do in a cheap general purpose device, and I am assuming that is what is driving you nuts. Almost any cheap device can measure voltages ok.

As an ex-navy nuke, ex-auto mechanic, it wont be a shock when you hear me say "Fluke". They take abuse and hold up forever.

If I needed to make critical measurements of low resistances, I would not only use a quality meter, I would consider setting up a four-wire or Kelvin measurement. I really need to get my ... to bed and I don't have time to explain it, so I'll just leave it to Wikipedia...
