Hey all,

Well I can't believe it's already just about a year now since I quit smoking (Jan 3 2011 to be exact.) I thought I was doing very well and was pretty much home free. I have been vaping since June of this year at 0MG (because when I quit I basically quit cold turkey with no NRT's) s I decided not to add nicotine to my juices...why look for trouble where there is none?

This past week or so I've been really having a tough time and I've been seriously craving cigarettes and the 0MG eliquid is not cutting it at all for me. In fact I woke up about 4 this morning crying because I was wanting a cigarette so bad I couldn't stand it. I'm not sure if it's the holidays stiring things up for me (I don't really have any family and get really depressed this time of the year) or if it's just cigarette cravings.

But I want to order a thing of juice to see what I think of vapin it with nic but not sure what MG strength to start at or test at. When I smoked (at least the last 3 years) I was down to about a pack a day of Marlboro Lights, before then I smoked about 2 packs a day.:(

Going back to bed but will check messages later, Merry Christmas everyone!

I'd say don't do it... Really...

But if you must I'd get a low dosage nicotine, maybe 8mg, and use that sparingly. As honesty is the best policy, let's be honest with ourselves. Nicotine is an addictive substance and any good from it (if you can think of any that apply to you) needs to be weighed with the troubles of addiction.

As a nicotine addict I seriously suggest you reconsider though. The truth is that you should avoid it if you can.

Hello Dayvid. Since you have been basically nicotine free for almost a year, probably a very low nic juice would help you get thru the hard times. The lowest I've seen at most web retailers is 6mg. Start with that, and use it only when you have the bad cravings.

You can always bump it up to 11 or 18mg if that doesn't do it for you.

Or you could order the same juice you are using now in 24mg nic and mix it half and half with the 0 mg to come up with 12mg. Or, a 4 to 1 ration of 0 nic to 24 mg should give you 6 mg.

See where I'm going with that? Customize your own strength of juice.

What you're doing now is why I always went back to smoking. Something would come up and my mind would immediately go for the thing I'd always used to calm down. It's good that you have a substitute that can work for you, instead of having to go back to cigarettes.

I agree with Bozzlite's suggestion. Get your current flavor in a high nicotine strength and try mixing just a little of it into your 0mg liquid. Bump it up, little by little, until it's just enough for what you want.

I agree with Bozzlite. You can try cutting juices to find a nic strength that works for you. I was at 18mg strength but didn't find it enough so I moved to 24, and it works really well, but I feel like I can go back to 18 now and be happy again.

Remember, whatever you vape is better than smoking, there is NO shame at all to get a juice that has nicotine in it. Just try your hardest to stay away from analogs, it will only make you feel worse because of the guilt (trust me, I've been there).

Good luck and happy holidays my friend.

I hear what you're saying but nic is better than cigarettes, heck in fact it's pretty harmless (even my lung doc says this.) I'm not sure what it is I'm craving if it's just the act of going outside and doing it or if it's something from the cigarette itself. But I think adding nic is a much better solution than going down to 7-Eleven...:)

I know people who have been vaping for several years now who say they will NEVER remove nic from their vaping juices. So I don't see what the harm is. So yea I figured you all would say start with the lowest so that is what I'll do.:)

Thanks everyone hope you have a good day today!

Yea I know what you mean. I have found myself over the past few days thinking "oh what the hell just go back to smoking, you know it's gonna happen eventually!" Then I say to myself "look dude at what you have done...you are almost a year out! What the .... are you thinking? You will so regret it if you do it!" That's been the only thing these past couple of weeks that have kept me away from 7-Eleven.

I just hope that will always be enough to do the job, you know?

The harm would be the addiction itself if nothing else. (I'm quite the addict personally.) Who is in control of you? But... If you want to go back after a year then there's not one thing anyone can do to stop you.

It *is* probably better than smoking. So, there is that.

This is one of the big drawbacks of vaping. Yes, vaping works well enough that you can get yourself off cigarettes, but you're just trading one method of delivery for another. For myself, I can put up with the drawbacks of vaping because I know that my health is much better than it was after thirty years of smoking 2 packs a day. I feel much better and have more energy, I don't cough and hack every morning, and I've got lung capacity again.

However what I don't like about vaping is that I hit my device pretty much non-stop throughout the day. With smoking I could burn a nail and be good for an hour if I had to go that long. I can't vape for five minutes and put my device down, for any length of time. I suck on that Silver Bullet all day. There is something about how we absorb nicotine from vaping that requires more frequent input. Perhaps it's the slow delivery of nicotine that the tar in our lungs provided that made smoking more satisfying in that regard.

Here's another way to look at it. You're doing the right thing for yourself and those around you by vaping. If you had to go smoke a cigarette now and again to get through the tough stretches, it's not the end of the world. One cigarette every month or so represents a massive lifestyle improvement, wouldn't you say? People get so weird about tobacco once they're vaping. I'm not advocating you go smoke, just don't beat yourself up about it if an occasional cigarette is what it takes to keep you vaping and off cigarettes. It's not the end of the world.

Vaping is still in its infancy. This stuff keeps improving all the time, and I am more than willing to put up with what I don't like about vaping because the health benefits compared to smoking cigarettes are evident.

I think minigoat nailed it for you. Do not have an analog-after one year those days are behind you. It would be like an alcoholic having just one shot of gin-it wont work. Snus will deliver for you if you need it-get the mini portions and only buy Swedish snus-it is processed differently than others and is believed to be non carcinogenic. Or the advise to up your 0 nic in your juice is probably the best. I cant believe you went a whole year with none after being a heavy smoker-you have infact quit smoking completely so cravings are to be expected. Good luck, its been 3 weeks shy of two full years for me and I still use nic in my juice and am very happy btw, and have no intent to remove it or go down to 0 content, it relaxes me and I enjoy it so what the heck.
