My son just bought me a Plume veil and I'm starting to do my research before building anything.

My questions is what the correct ohms meter that will fit on the threading of the Plume Veil. I don't think the threads are standard. I'm looking for something inexpensive to start. And I do not do fasttech anything. So maybe something on Amazon would be perfect.

Also if anyone else has any good advice for a noob with a mod, I would appreciate any advice.

BTW - I already purchased 24 gage wire, and some rayon cellucotton, based on other threads I have read

Thanks all.

Is the threading on your plumveil a standard 510 threading? If so then most ohm meter will fit if not then you can measure it with a multi meter because i think that most ohm meter uses standard 510 threading

I don't think so. I tried screwing into my Vama to see if I could check the ohms and it doesn't match that threading. Although it was close.

I just don't want to buy something and have it not fit.

no the vamo will show 9.9ohms if there is nothing there 0.0ohms is a short, press the fire button and it will say "low load" you have done something wrong. Post a pic and we'll try and help. Your vamo thread might be the problem (it's often dodgy) and your build is fine, but the atty is shorting at the thread. Clean both threads and visually check there is nothing that looks wrong, then try to screw the atty down but if it gets tight stop so as not to do any damage.

I use my vamo to check my builds and it reads all the way down, just shorted my coil and it read 0.3ohms it just won't fire below 1.2ohms IIRK.

Oh, that's good information, thanks. I'm just starting to build my own and wanna learn everything before firing one up. I think I'll try from scratch again. I'm shooting for about .5 ohms, and going to use a Panasonic 18650, CGR18650CH. From what I'm seeing that should all be safe. But I wanna make sure before actually trying to use it.

Wire is = 24 GA, Kanthal A-1 annealed Round
Wick is = Cellucotton Rayon

My first try was wrapped around .070 diameter, and 8 coils.

UPDATE - I put it on a different Vamo I have. V3, and it screwed on much better. It's reading .2 OHM, so I'll try to create another build and test it again.

OK, so I built another dual coil. Read .5 ohms with me Vamo. So I tried to fire it dry. It's heats up but it doesn't glow red.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong.

24 GA, 11 coils around .100 diameter.

Here is a picture of everything I got going on. I know my coils are a bit crappy. I'm still working on technique.

rdix33 I would recommend going with a thinner wire. For my 0.5 builds I like to use either 26 or 28 gauge. Just too much wire when I use the 24 and try to do a dual coil that high, although the 24 works great for me for my usual 0.2 build. 5 wraps on a 1/8 bit. Good luck and keep playing around with it, just do it safely.

Thanks Mikey.

I just ordered some 28, and 30 gauge based on some other posts I was reading. I will give it another go once I get my new wire in.

As far as safety, I only use fully charged hi quality 18650's. Right now Panasonic brand CGR18650CH. But they are getting hard to find. And I check all of my builds prior to firing. And I'm shooting for about .5 ohms on a dual build. Is there anything more I should be concerned with?

I did my first build on a EhPro Plume Veil this weekend. Here are a few thoughts:

1) The Vamo doesn't do sub-ohms. You have to get a reading of 1.2 ohms or higher on your build, or the Vamo won't fire.
2) The Plume Veil fit just fine on my Vamo V5, so don't know what to tell you there...
3) I started out with 24 gauge Kanthal, but the stuff was thick and stiff and it was really hard to get the coils tight and close. Then, I tried 30 gauge and it was much easier!
4) You don't need an ohm meter if you have a Vamo. Just hold the right-hand side button down, and the Vamo will tell you what the ohm level is on your build.
5) The first few coils I did, I used a really small screwdriver, exact size unknown. None of the coils worked. When I started wrapping them on the 2 mm screwdriver that came in my $4.99 lol screwdriver set, then I started getting working coils.
6) Once I got the coil to fire at 1.5 ohms, I added the wick and the juice. After I did that, the ohm level went up to 2.2

9.9 ohms means it sees nothing! Good to know! I was wondering about that! Thanks!
