Received my voopoo drag a couple of weeks ago.The first thing that hit me was the smell. It took 2 weeks for it to dissipate. The second thing I noticed was that it was hazy in the center and overall it was not near as bright as I had hoped.Last night I noticed a couple of blemishes/scratches that look as though some kind of coating was removed. My first thought was it wasn't cured properly when it was packaged and that is why it looks hazy in the center.
Has anyone ever tried to polish the resin panel? I have a pretty good grasp of how it should be done and as a professional painter I certainly have the tools I think I need.I will tape off the mod, then wet sand starting at 220 grit slowly working my way up to a 2000 grit.I would then buff it with rubbing compound; then polishing compound; finishing it off with a light coat of wax.If anyone has tried this I would certainly love to hear any tips you might have.

Personally, I’d contact VooPoo with a video/photo s and ask for s new one.

No idea on the resin but I'm sorry to hear voopoo did it again. If I were mature, I would attempt to get a refund ((I am not) and if I were immature, I would find some way to send them a package of self-igniting poo to Voopoo, and see what happened.

I would not use my own return address.

If I figure out the self-igniting part I could just do it FOR you. I would call it "a labor of love."

But since you a) apparently wanted the mod and b) it apparently sucks voopoo I am left wishing you Much Luck and Karma well, it is what it is.

Intellectual temptress! Fie on you!
I just spent ten minutes trying to figure out a safe method of sending a self igniting poo box overseas.
I don’t think it can be done. International shipping is by boat which is slow and is quite variable heat wise. Poo outgasses. You’ve got to have something that holds the smelly gas until opened. This is quite difficult.

You can get dried poo but it doesn’t smell at all though it does burn well. It also doesn’t rehydrate easily so some sort of binary water/dried poo system would likely simply fail.

Difficult, maybe….but not impossible.

Little inspiration….

Got to be a temperature resistant jar resistant trigger that can go for an extremely variable time of up to a couple of months. That’s entirely separate from the smelliness issue and the flammable issue. It’s a pretty rugged threefer

Watching this thread - I'd love to know how it comes out as I would like to polish my resin Picos and haven't much idea what might work.

Please keep us updated!
I will probably do it this weekend. I will take some pics for you and document the steps taken. Really like the mod overall.

Here are the steps.
1)Tape off the mod using a good quality painters tape(3M)
2)Sand the mod. I did it by hand.I started with 180 grit, then progressed to finer and finer grit.(180,220,400,600,800,1000) clean the mod before progressing to the next step in grit.I dry sanded but wet sanding will also work.(if you dry sand always wear a respirator as the dust is bad for you)Wet the panel in between grits to be sure you have no scratches left and it is uniform. This is very important because if you miss some scratches at any grit you will need to start all over.I just used a damp rag then dried it again before continuing to the next grit.
3)Buff the mod.Used my orbital buffer and cutting pad.Meguiars rubbing compound.
4)Polish the mod.Again used my orbital this time with my polishing pad.Meguiars polishing compound.
5)wipe it clean and remove the tape.

Nice. Irritating it didn’t come that way in the first place but nice. I was confused for a sec because the pics are upside down from each other but after I got that identified everything was fine.
I wouldn't expect a manufacturer to do this as the cost would be prohibitive. Its a fair amount of work.

Thanks!Yeah I kind of rushed it a bit and missed a couple of scratches. They are barely noticeable but I may do it again. It took me about half an hour from start to finish. It really does look like a piece of glass. All hand sanded then buffed with the orbital.

Superb work and it's amazing how the colours now have real depth - many thanks for posting and saying how you did it.

Congratulations on a great piece of work and may you have many years of enjoyment from that mod!
jThank you! I really like this mod. I just ordered a Drag 2. I may polish that one as well. I will update here if I do.
