I think the contests are cool, but a lot of the time you see one with many pages of guesses and you have to wade through them to pick a number or something that hasn't been guessed before. I've tried the search option but it hasn't worked for me, maybe I'm missing something, very possible :)
This recent contest by Bham was kinda frustrating cus I couldn't read the post, but I soon got that fixed by changing my settings. Then it was the 'pick a grid that no one else has picked', sigh...
Also a minor gripe, all these folks that never post on this forum flood the contests, I'm not trying to be discriminating but...sigh.
Oh well sorry for my rant, hard day at work and am probably coming across as a grouch, but I guess i am:D Good luck everyone on the contests, but I've decided to not even try anymore.

I guess if we were picking between the 2, I would take less or no contests for more sales like there used to be. I hate to choose tho, I love the contests also. It's like the thread I posted in previously, samples or sales, I want samples, sales & contests!!! lol. But yeah I'd give up samples and even contests too for the blockbuster frequent sales to come back.

I wonder why the search option isn't working for you? It works for me here on ECF tho it hasn't always worked for me on the v4l forum. For the grid contest, he did say something about HIM making sure that no number was picked twice....something like that. But yeah I get frustrated with some contests too, I don't enter every contest because they can be a lot of work sometimes lol. I pick and choose. Easy contests I usually enter. More complicated ones......if I'm in the mood.

I completely agree Plantlvr, it's disheartening at best to see contest filled with nomadic contest seekers. One look at their post history shows their presence is solely limited to entering contests. This is why I have held contest in the past that are all V4L related, V4L history, V4L trivia, anything to keep it in the family so-to-speak. Funniest part is I know a lot of these contest seekers and they know I know what I am talking about. I can't blame them, if companies hold contest in this type of format why not swoop in for a chance at some freebies.

The idea sounds so easy, let's have a contest because a contest will drive traffic to the site. This additional traffic will then bring in new customers. The only problem is it only attracts the same flock of contest seekers over and over again. It never reaches that new vaper looking to start or looking for an alternative to their current starter kit from another company. The bulk of these contest seekers are all very experienced vapers that have no intention of purchasing anything from V4L with the slight possibility of juices.

It reminds of a small company boss who announces he is going to hold a contest for his staff of 5. You know, livin things up a bit and lift morale. Shortly after the announcement the boss walks next door to a neighboring company of 500 and invites them to join the contest.

Why not have a series of small fun forum-related contests that reward the current customers? Better yet have contest built around bringing in new customers via current customers. PIF contest where the winner wins a little something, but also wins the ability to PIF a gift starter kit to a friend or a family member. Isn't that really the best way to generate new sales and justify the time and expense of holding these contests?

There are 2 ways to develop new customers, outside of your client base for new companies and within your client base for established companies. There are no greater sales or marketing assets than your loyal client base.

Sales....sales are great if you want to move numbers, but contests should be for rewarding current customers and expanding client base. But hey, what do I know?

I totally agree, Plantlvr ! I don't often enter these competitions simply because there are pages & pages of picks, mostly from posters I don't see here usually. I'm not known for my luck in 'pick a number' or lottery style contests anyway, and I'd rather buy what I want than win something.

Give me sales anyday!

Yeah ppl get really jazzed over the wheel, it is pretty fun to watch/read about :)

I dunno, personally, I don't think the number game or other games like it are that hard UNLESS the search option is not working properly, with the search it is easy, although sometimes takes too long to get to a winner....

Well said.. especially this part when it comes to the forums, but on Facebook when they do the sweepstakes I can personally account for atleast 5 of my friends who became customers and vapers' in general because they saw me advertising the sweepstakes.

I suppose that is different than the forum... but it shows that in different mediums that theory works well.

I like the contests and I like the sales. Im easy,I just think its cool that V4L always offers so many different things to do for fun. I love watching the excitement on FB over the wheel deals,LOL! I dont enter or do all of the things, but I still think its cool that people are having fun.

Love the wheel, too - always a cool rush - did my cart stay in place while I waited for a #? Can I refill my cart before desired # goes away???

Yes, sales would be my first choice also. Especially the wheel.

Secondly, I would like to say that although I do not normally post on the V4L forum, I am a regular V4L customer. Those of you ASSuming others who do not post regularly on the V4L forum are not regular V4L customers are incorrect. V4L obviously has a huge customer base, not just the few that post here. Regardless, the contests are open for everyone, customers or not, because that is the way V4L has chosen to run them. Your attitude of entitlement is poor. Do you believe in karma? Then you'll understand when you don't win.

Ok, and yes I believe in karma and I don't think I'm 'entitled' but then again I don't think I'm ASSuming anything like you do. And just for the record Pans and Knuckle Heads rule, not Wannabe Evos :D Hope you take this in the spirit intended, 50/50.

Hold them arrows, but my pref would be something like this:

10% off - $25+
15% off - 50+
20% off - 75+
25% off - 100+

Plus

* occasional sales offering free shipping, with a slight additional discount for the biggest
* codes sent out simultaneously through all e-modes available
* all of the above adjusted so that V4L maintains its bottom line, of course

Call me grouchy. Call me boring. I just prefer a system that I can understand and count on whenever I need it. But nah, I don't get no respect. I once worked in a pet store and people would ask how big I would get.

(Thanks, RD)

Yes for the wheel! Loved it cus it was like gambling, should I stay, fold or hit:) I think the wheel is the best sale going. Maybe a wheel once a month would be doable?

Adrenaline junkie. :glare:  :D
