I've tried to get my aunt to switch to vaping, but she didn't really take to it. I think she's just not ready and she didn't want to recharge batteries. Anyway, I'm thinking she might go for a disposable. And now that there's one on the market that is actually like a real cigarette (V4L pats on back :thumb:), it might work.

Now my question for you guys, is: What do you think prevented your friend/family member to start vaping?

A) Not ready to switch.

B) Didn't want to deal with recharging batts.

C) Couldn't find a flavor that matched their cigarette.

For people who have someone who they really wanted to switch, but couldn't for whatever reason, I think our new disposables will "work" for them. Whoever has someone close to them that answers this poll, I want to help you out. So if it applies, let me know and I'll tell you more about my offer as people answer this thread.

Audrey, my experience is all of the above. That's why I'm so excited about the disposable, altho as I mentioned b/4, I think there needs to be one in 18mg. I think the disposable will hit all of the reasons my friends have for not quitting - in my opinion, it's perfect. I know at least 3 heavy smokers that this would be perfect for, if it came in 18mg. And my office coworker has taken the menthol one I gave her and had several people tell her that vaping seemed like too much work, at least to start, but that the disposable interested them. So, seems to me the disposables would be perfect!:toast:

Thanks for the feedback K9! You know what I'd like to know is how many people try a crappy disposable and decide ecigs suck and then never try another again?

Almost everyone I've spoken to that tried and didn't like vaping tried a crappy disposable from a convenience store or gas station.

I have converted 6 sine Dec but one (hubby) was a struggle. His was all of the above and then some. I got him a disposable and he used it instead of going outside in the cold so he was doing both. He really didn't care for the flavor and I went through about 20 juices until I found one he liked. The batts are still an ongoing deal with us LOL He didn't like to charge them the conventional way so I got him a charging case---I charge it up when I see it getting low and he will use it. He fills the cartos on the batt so I am constantly cleaning them and he won't use anything but a white batt with a tan carto LOL I am fine with all of that as long as he doesn't buy any more smokes. The biggest hurdle I think is that as long as people have smokes in the house they will use them and they have to make the decision to not go buy any more and rely solely on vaping.

It was the disposable that got at least 3 of those I converted to give it a try. It is also what started me on vaping. HTH

Ms. Audrey the usual issue I have with getting people to switch is A. All my failed attempts have usually been because the person still really wants to smoke, whether it's to feed their self destructiveness, or because they don't trust the juice. Always find the later funny because they have no issue breathing in carpet glue, tar, arsenic, etc. but they don't trust pg.

I tried to get my husband to vape, but he was too set in his ways. My son loved them and is now smoke free and vape free (except for the ocassional vape at the computer.) I also tried to get my best friend to switch, she thought the whole thing was too fiddley. If I would fill and charge for her she may have done it!
The new disposables may be the ticket for her. I bet she will love them!
Even my husband would have taken to these.
    Thanks for developing them!

I think most of my failed attempts to switch someone to vaping, is because of A. Some of those that did start were tired of B, or would not re-order supplies promptly enough, while analogs were still in the house beckoning them. As for C, I think it's partly true. I also wanted to match my analog flavor in the early days of vaping, but after a short while that became unimportant. I think C is also used as an excuse not to try, due to the real reason of A.

I don't mind the refilling, recharging, and cleaning, to maintain my vape habit, but some people will not do all that not to smoke. Smokers are used to grab & go, no plan or forethought, just a pack and a lighter and they're set. These disposables are exactly what they need, but A is the major factor, A determines if they will stick with it.

I haven't tried to switch any
Have spent time informing them on what I'm doing and they have tried it and of them that do have quit smoking
To date I have given away 32 ego starter kits to friends and family .
I buy them from China in bulk so they are only $8.00 a set (a pack of smokes)
To give the gift of freedom from cigarettes is a gift of life .
    Best wishes

Can't get my sister to switch. I think it's because she's been smoking too long and my advanced setups are too much for her. I think she'd have to start with something more introductory like an evod

Do you think she'd go for a disposable if it felt extremely similar to a real cig?

    Hey guys,

Everyone who replied to this thread - I would like to send you one of our disposables if you can give it to someone who has a tough time switching. I can put it in your next order. Just PM me your order # next time and tell me if you want menthol or regular tobacco you order so I can do that. :)

Hey Audrey, that's awesome. Here's my latest order: Order #1500001541 (placed on March 7, 2014 5:20:25 PM CST). I guess I'll take a regular tobacco one.

3 people. My hubby, my neighbor and my sister.

For hubby it is probably because he is not quick to change habits. Although he does like the zues and will use it if we are having a few drinks on the porch. But his normal habit is the reach for the pack of cigs. And I have to make sure the batteries are charged. Because he will not.
For my neighbor I think it is because she is to lazy to order online. (we do not have a local vape shop) I have given her plenty of batteries and liquids. But when she runs out rather than order she will pick up an analog. It is not that she can't afford it or I would just buy it for her it is that it is not high on her priority list.
For my sister it is the battery charging. If she is at my house she will use an e-cig but once back home she goes right back to the cigs.
She does not have the patience to fiddle with things.

You know Amraann, I really think the people with the best chance of quitting are those who do the homework. Learning about e-cigs, reading reviews, coming to ECF to talk about the best ways to switch and trying lots of different things. These people are motivated and ready to try giving up analogs. The fiddley stuff is really kind of fun once you get the hang of it. It's so much harder for those who just get it handed to them..no motivation, no support except from the person who gave them the stuff. I haunted these boards for years, made friends and had lots of people to get me through. I see the old timers who have been sucessful and I remember them when they made their first tenative posts along with me. ECF and V4L were always my go to for support. Get these people on-line and have them try the disposables..maybe that will be the ticket!

I agree with MK. I lurked the ECF for over 6 months before I made my 1st ecig purchase. I wanted to arm myself with as much info as possible so that I made a good decision. Didn't want to try one ecig after the other, investing $ in products that weren't satisfying. So glad I did my homework, 1st. Have been with V4L since the beginning :vapor:

Father in law - NAY - don't have his tobacco flavor
Co-Worker - NAY - too much maintenance, flooding
Aquaintance - NAY - don't want to pay for a decent starter kit
Friend - NAY - too used to cigs, don't want to hold ecigs
Neighbor (in his 70s) - NAY - "Don't try teaching new tricks to this old dog"

I am still the only Yay around here...

I had 3 sets of gear so I let them borrow my gear/batts/juice/coils for days and weeks BTW. So they all had a good chance at starting with no upfront cost to try out. They had my protank-ii mini 1300 mah batts and my ADV at 18 and at 30 mg.
