I bought some Kanthal
I've rewicked a few times and still get it at varying degrees. Thickness doesn't seem to make much difference. I cut the wick a little shorter than I had been, and it pops less, but is currently leaking through the air flow holes, so I'll have to cut a new one at the previous length.

It may just be me, but I've noticed a decent amount of liquid in my wide bore drip tips, so perhaps it's something to do with my chimney. I'll keep experimenting.
I do get popping but its not pronounced except on the first hit. To be honest its really not that much of a bother for me; but everyone is different and I have definitely not had hot juice exploding into my mouth like you described. If this thing leaked I would be severely disappointed since I bought a tank for ease of traveling/driving. No leaks and vapes great.

The leaky air flow holes is just a lack of wick, I'm sure, as it never leaked there before I cut it shorter. So, no worries, that'll be an easy fix once I put a longer strip of cotton in.

The juice in the drip tip makes me wonder if one of my o-ring seals may be a bit wonky. That may explain the severe pop, too, as the coil could be more saturated than it should be. I'll tear it apart again this evening when I'm home.

I just refilled mine again and it definitely pops the most after a refill. I lay my mod/tank flat on the table, can't stand leaks and I have yet to overfill doing it this way. But it may be causing a air pocket to form. After about 3 good hits it settles in to something a lot less dramatic.

Good luck, I wish I had an answer for you.

I do not own this tank, BUT popping is due to a few things and can be remedied to a point.

Water In juice will cause popping. I use water to thin my vg, and personaly I like the popping as it helps me determine if a build is wicking correctly or not.

First puff popping? Sounds like thick juice and a coil that heats a little too quick. Try using a coil with a slightly slower ramp up time.

Also, too much airflow (slow/non resistance) can cause popping as it's not "strong enough" to force air over the coil(essentially just boiling the liquid on your wick)

The leaking at the air flow slots was due to having too short a wick. Crazy what difference a millimeter on each side makes.

Alas, the crackling is back with a vengeance on the first puff again.

I'm just putting 60/40 VG/PG through it now, so I don't imagine it is due to the juice being too thick, however I am still using the stock coil that came in it, and didn't consider the ramp up time possibly playing a role. I'll put together some 28G twisted tomorrow and try running it at some lower watts to see how it reacts.

Thanks for the feedback.

Just an update, it looks like the stock coil was the culprit! I can't be entirely sure, but I think it was 26 gauge kanthal, and as soon as I replaced it with some 28 gauge twisted wire, the popping has ceased. Now I just get the satisfying crackle that I'm used to. No more leaking once I lengthened the wick. It's just vaping like it was intended to... and I'm loving it!
