Possible definite solution to the EVOD BCC leaking/gurgling problem

Hi all,
I'm from Brazil and have only recently started vaping. I have already moved on from the analogs and am enjoying nicotine exclusively from vapor.
I started with the eGo CE4 starter kit and it was a good start, but I recently bought the EVOD BCC and it has a much better vapor temperature and flavor than the CE4. However, it starts gurgling and leaking juice into my tongue and onto the battery only after a few minutes vaping.

I've tried the most widespread solution that consists of putting another silicon gromet upside down on top of the one that comes with it and it didn't make a difference.

I vape most of the time Halo juices, and I understand that, being it thinner than most juices, it may make the problem even worse.

What I found is the best solution isn't a technical one and involves no extra parts and doesn't require any knowledge at all. What I found is that, despite of any sealing or tightening solution, the juice leaks exclusively when the coil and/or the wicks get soaked wet with the juice, hence "flooding" the pieces and resulting in leaking.

What I've been doing with almost 100% success is just hold the e-cig upside down between draws and, after the juice hits half the volume of the tank, take the draws with the e-cig kinda upside down. Every 5-10 draws, I get liquid into the wicks and rapidly get it upside down again. The juice leaking into the mouth is reduced to the same level as other cartos, like the CE4, meaning it does happen, but really rarely, like once every tank. A minor nuisance, but one I'm willing to deal with, given the quality of the vape on the EVOD.

The leakage from the bottom to the battery threads was reduced to nil, hasn't happened yet.

I'm only two tanks fully vaped after I figured out the "solution", so it may change and I'll report here if it does. If anyone tries this and is successful, please post here, I'd appreciate to know if I was able to be of any help.

Hey mate, welcome! Glad you seemed to have found something that worked for you, but I hope vaping upside down doesn't take off. Because you have to have 5 posts to post anywhere in the forum, a few questions:

1. Are these authentic evods?

2. Do you rebuild your coils?

3. Are there local brazilian eliquids, or is it mostly imported?

1. I think they are, yes,although I'm not sure I can verify this. They have "kangertech evod" printed on the base.
2. I never rebuilt one, I had a CE4,not rebuildable as far as I know, and now this EVOD only for a week.
2. Vaping is not yet legalized in Brazil, so most liquids are imported. I can get authentic halo juices, and some other American stuff, I don't know if anyone actually makes juices here.

Hello and welcome to the forum brunotorres. Glad to have you here!

It great you have discovered that flooding solution. If you want better performance out of your Kanger coils I suggest you periodically clean AND dry burn them. When they finally don't work well (or at all) replace them (but save the non-functioning ones). You may at some point want to learn to rebuild them.

If you get into rebuilding make sure you purchase an ohm reader or DMM so you can check for shorts and measure the resistance of your build.

the way I see it there are two reasons your tank is leaking
•you probably need to ADD flavor wick (easy)
-get some cotton around the house, roll it up to proper size
and install it (too much clogs, not enuff allows leakage)

•second is your tank is NOT SEALED allowing no vacuum, so juice just runs out
-ONLY thing that needs to be tight is the COIL
-be sure all o-rings are present
-always wet o-rings with juice (lubricate)
-just snug up base (not tight!)

or, since the tank works on vaccuum, try puffing not so hard. the harder you pull, the more juice pulls into the wicking chamber/coil.


if you can tank the tank off, and set it aside for 24hs filled, and it doesnt leak - its definatly your lung power causing it to flood.

Defdock, is it possible that the Halo juice, that is thinner than the 50/50 (at least the ones I have here) might be a source of leaking too? I've been vaping Prime 15, Tribeca and Mystic (usually one tobacco mixed with the menthol one).

thinner juice is more prone to "flood" yes, but as i pointed out, try puffing less hard and see if that changes anything.

if you want, you can try thickening the juice by adding VG. walmart and other shops, in the healthcare isles, usualy carries VG.



if you can leave the tank filled - sitting overnight - and wake up to it not leaking a single drop from sitting, its definatly not the hardware and more of a opperator issue.



when i started vaping i used to hit it like a cigarette(using a top coil t2 at that time) - with good mouth pulls - when i switched to an evod (bottom coil) i noticed it would "flood" every 2nd or third hit. after doing alot of searching i found i was puffing too hard.
i too tried to add a second rubber grommet - i even rebuilt the heads with new wire and wick - only when i used slower/softer pulls, it completely stopped it from flooding.

Bruno, besides the helpful advise you've already received, try this:
When you start leaking or sucking juice, take the evod off the battery, put a paper towel under the tank and blow .
Then, make sure you dry the underneath of the tank thoroughly, and do the same to the battery.
Put the tank back on and enjoy.
Also, make sure you use and adjustable voltage battery and increase the voltage.

I second the vote for trying to not pull on it like it is a cigarette. If you do, the airflow tube will act like a straw and pull liquid into it. For the most part this is the most common reason for leaking I have dealt with. Although, all the other suggestions I have read are great and should be used if drawing lighter does not work.

Another reason that is common is that the airflow is reduced from clogged airflow holes. If you have any debris in the holes that are on the base you can have the same issue as drawing to hard.

I had a Protank2 and it leaked gurgled and spewed juice all over the place.... my fix for it was to purchase an RSST

one that is easily overlooked

with the extremely small air intake holes on the EVOD base
be sure they are clear and capable of full song...

I had terrible luck with almost everything I tried before I got an EVOD. I did get leaking/gurgling the first ever actual Kanger coil I tried, but never had a significant issue since with it. How much this was better equipment or getting better techniques, I'm not sure. I'm having more issues with a non-Nautilus Aspire BVC.

A good thing to do is when you refill, wipe all the juice off the coil chimney and soak up anything coming out of the drip tip. This builds up but shouldn't be a problem in a single tankful's time. If you do get gurgling, it doesn't go away by itself, though. If really bad you need to blow the excess juice out the bottom.

What helped me was to filled and then put a napkin over the mouth piece and give it several shakes like you did the old time thermometers before you put it on your battery. I also did my own coils and I always removed the extra flavor wick that was on mine. I know this may sound sort of weird, but so am I and it worked for me.
