This is an email response I have just recieved from the FDA. I found some parts interesting. I have since replied thanking them for their response and offered to support what they need, being as how they cant seem to find any "studies" (I didn't say that part though lol)

Thank you for making your opinions known to the Agency. We appreciate your thoughts and suggestions regarding this issue.
At this time, we are not aware of any data establishing electronic cigarettes as safe and effective for their intended uses. Based upon our case by case review of a number of these products, they are drug/device combinations that require approval by FDA before they may be legally marketed in the United States.

None of these so-called electronic cigarettes or their components has been approved by FDA. Therefore, the marketing of the products FDA has reviewed is not legal in the United States. As a matter of policy, however, we limit communications about the regulatory status of specific marketed products to those responsible for them, and we do not discuss our enforcement actions except with the targets of those actions.

There may be a perception among some users that electronic cigarettes are a safe and effective means to quit smoking conventional forms of tobacco. However, FDA is not aware of any scientific data to support those perceptions. Since these products have not been submitted to the FDA for evaluation or approval, the agency has no way of knowing, except for the limited testing it has performed, the levels of nicotine or the kinds and amounts of other chemicals that the various brands of these products deliver to the user. The FDA’s Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis analyzed the ingredients in a small sample of cartridges from two leading brands of electronic cigarettes. In one sample, the FDA’s analyses detected diethylene glycol, a chemical used in antifreeze that is toxic to humans, and in several other samples, the FDA analyses detected carcinogens, including nitrosamines. FDA also found varying levels of nicotine in cartridges labeled as containing the same level of nicotine as well as the presence of nicotine in cartridges labeled as containing no nicotine. These test results indicate that these products are manufactured under inadequate or non-existent controls.

FDA is concerned that electronic cigarettes may introduce young people to nicotine use which may lead to an increase in the use of conventional tobacco products with well-known, adverse, health consequences. Additionally, it is unclear what health effects these products could have on users or if misuse or product failure could lead to nicotine poisoning or other serious adverse health consequences.
We appreciate you understanding that the regulatory decisions are not made by the Division of Drug Information, but that are responsiblility is to convey the information to the public.
We hope that the above information clarifies any questions about electronic cigarettes.

This is the email I had originally sent.

I am a user of electronic cigarettes. I am well aware of your stance on them. I have done over 100 hours of research from independent universities, as well as findings from the FDA which have been found unanimously flawed.

Shame on those responsible for the efforts to ban the devices that helped save my life, or at the very least improve my over health. I know the facts and will work my ... off, to get the FACT out the the american public.

I realize that you may be a very nice person, by know means responsible for the decisions that have come from your office. The FDA needs to be fully funded from the government only or be disbanded, period. I will HELP the FDA! If it is not the profit insurrance company that everybody thinks it is.

Well I am going to breathe my antifreeze now, LOL

Have a good day.

Thank afrazier5! I will copy and drop off the findings I have found from this forum, to include the Boston University efforts, at my U.S. House respresentatives office in town. I have talked with his secretary back in September, but I will kindly update them on what I've found. Doing something is better then nothing I feel for sure. His secretary was stating that with the Big Health Care battles going on at the time, and currently I would assume, that I was the first person to go talk to them about it.

Somebody's missing something here.
As far as I'm aware the electronic cigarette has never claimed to be a quit smoking device. Thus it doesn’t follow the same guidelines as those devices. Such as $80 nicotine gum, 6 months of Chantix, the patch, etc.

Is it a miracle... yes. Is it something that works for you... Yes

Is it something that is evolving every single day... Yes. Is it flawless? No. If it had to follow all the normal channels of strict testing, it would be obsolete, before it could be marketed.

What can they actually ban? A battery, an atomizer, a container, or juice? Good luck. There would be a "how to" section on the day. Actually I think there already is. Everybody on here is passionate, and docile. I seriously doubt that anybody really wants to be responsible for pissing us off. Did you know there are about 100,000 posts daily in here?

My Bad Guys,

I thought wrong on their statement. Its B.S. as always though. I replied stating I was at their will, to bring the studies to their Dallas office in Texas. If they want my Vaping buddies to actually go down there, I will laugh, and then figure out how to get the Enterprise E and millenium falcon to escape that imperial fortress.

Or if anyone has a ship, we can just swing by tommorrow anyway.?

It could prove to be very helpful if zombiedawg reposted the entire e-mail from the FDA (including date, FDA staff name, and subject line, but excluding zombiedawg's name), as it is evidence that the FDA is ignoring recent federal court rulings.

Or please send it to me at smokefree@compuserve.com

I'd like to send it to several members of Congress and to news reporters.

I didn't exactly word that correctly, as my final persuasive speech topic in a public speeching college course in my area, I dug up the research done by AAPHP, Dr. Micheal Siegel, and others to supplement what I have been following since last June.

I'm still ...... I missed the first part of your speech dude. What did you end up calling them.. The Food and Murder Administration? lol
