I can not stand Arnie, he is a sheep ,pretending to be a republiican, but he is really a democrat!

He's the Governor of CALIFORNIA, how conservative can you expect him to act and still be able to govern? Reagan was considered too liberal when he ran for President for the same reason, that's why he selected Bush 1 for VP. Now being a "Reagan Conservative" is the highest praise you can aspire to in some circles.

He is not serious, but this is a great example of how to use the media to bring attention to your cause. Maybe we could do something like this if a ban kicks in, start a ban coffee crusade or something.

I'm aware of that now, but it definitely gave me a heart attack a second there. Though yea he may not be serious, but someone else might be and decide to seriously move this cause.

LOL! Sorry, I don't mean to chuckle, but do you really think divorce could ever really be banned? Especially in California, where celebs change spouse as frequently as they get new cars? ;)

The only reason this is even getting attention is because of the REAL message. There have been conservative right movements to make divorce illegal in the past - never got anywhere. I wouldn't worry, honestly.

"Sigh" I'll never understand it. If Proposition 8 were reversed, and it was allowing gay marriage instead of banning it, the same people who are screaming about it would be saying "but.. but.. it went to a vote, and the majority of people have spoken" and they would want to hear nothing more about it. Since it didn't go that way, and the voters stepped up to ban gay marriage, they want to scream and holler and majority be damned.

I don't want to stereotype, but blacks are notoriously anti-gay. They rallied them and registered them to vote so they could get Obama elected, they played the race card as hard as they possibly could to make sure they got the vote that they wanted. What did they expect? All those same black folk to become as liberal as they were? They voted (not all, but some) based on race, not politics. Supporters of gay marriage knew this, but rallied them to the polls anyway.

Yeah man.. dude must be a gay activist that is tired of being put down on the gay marriage thing...... Probably attacks us straights and trying to see how much controversy he can through our way. Thats just wrong.... but life is not fair and you can't expect it to change just because you want your cake and eat it too.

You, sir, just crossed a dangerous bridge...

Okay I have to come back and add, It wasn't fair to me to leave it at that. I must go on...
So, what poll or census did you work for when you came across these findings? What makes black people any more anti-gay than whites? What makes white people any more pro-gay than blacks? You need facts to back this up, of which, you have none! I am not an Obama fan but to pull the race card is an incorrect assumption. Re-route your thoughts or give proof of what you are speaking. Other than, "because you said so"-

I am simply speaking from the blacks that I have known, and what I have been told by them. Personal experience, so to speak. There may be polls or census data that disprove me, but due to my personal experience in the real world, I will still believe what I said as truth. Maybe I should not spread my thoughts to the rest of the world, but I have that right.

The media pulls the race card every time you turn around. If you don't like Obama, you are racist. If you don't agree with his socialist policies, you are racist. I make a personal observation which obviously has some merit, since proposition 8 did pass, and now I brought up the race card? You see whites all over the news all the time talking in support of gay marriage, how many black people do you see talking in support of it?

Gay marriage simply does not fit into the black culture, and yes, they have a culture. Whites have a culture, Asians have a culture, Mexicans have a culture, every race on this earth has it's own culture. Different things that set us apart. Black comedians talk about these things all time. They use the material because they know it's funny because it's true, and they can say it without being branded a racist. I'm not saying there are no gay blacks, but I'd almost bet there are more "closeted" gay blacks per capita than whites. I have absolutely no proof to back this up. Call me out on it if you would like.

Oh, in case you are wondering, I do not like Obama. I wouldn't like him if he were white, pink, yellow or smurf blue. Race has NOTHING to do with it, but the media will hear none of it, because obviously, I'm racist.

There was plenty of heated discussion about that here; I can't point out specific polls atm, but it was generally concluded that the majority of black voters opposed gay marriage. I recall hearing a gay rights advocate on KROQ L.A. radio talking about how the gay community was stabbed in the back after they'd rallied behind Obama...

I think it's absolutely hilarious and f*&^ing pathetic that the same demographic which squeals and whines about the government infringing on their personal rights and liberties is also in full support of impeding those of others... "WE SHOULD ALL BE ABLE TO OWN AK-47'S SO BIG BROTHER GET OFF MAH BACK BUT HEY MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LET THEM FAGS GET MARRIED NOW..." think about how ridiculous that sounds...

Personally, since the 2nd amendment was put into place so that the citizens could defend, and if need be, overthrow a tyrannical Government, I think that we should all be able to own AK -47's. Criminals, by definition, do not obey the law. A law that prevents someone from having something is not going to prevent someone that does not obey the law in the first place.
As the saying goes, if you criminalize guns, only criminals will have guns.

As far as gay marriage, I could care less if they allowed civil unions performed by a judge or whatever they want, so long as they do not impede on the religious beliefs of others and try to force preachers/priest to perform the "marriage" or force churches to allow the ceremony.

I'm in full support of the 2nd amendment as well.I thought that the right to own a fully automatic assault rifle (which has the potential of pretty serious harm) juxtaposed with gay marriage (which doesn't hurt anything other than pride, maybe) is a good way to show how obtuse and/or irrational some folks choose to be.

On the other hand, when we move away from race as a sole determining factor and consider other variables we get a much clearer picture of Prop. 8’s proponents. Sixty percent of suburbanites supported Prop. 8, as did 82 percent of Republicans. Over half of California voters reside in the suburbs, while as much as 30 percent of the state electorate belongs to the GOP.

You can read the full article Don't Blame Black Voters: The Obama Non-Effect | Election 2008 | ReligionDispatches.

As far as blacks being closeted, I learned what gay was when I was 8. My drag queen cousin asked if I knew why he wore make-up?

I've grown up in small southern towns and New York City. Gays in smaller cities have a tendency to be more closeted, while gays in larger cities have a tendency to be less closeted.

You can further break this down by age, income, religion, etc.

The media pulls the race card every time you turn around. If you don't like Obama, you are racist. If you don't agree with his socialist policies, you are racist.

Nope, when you have poster of him dressed up as a witch doctor or in white face, then you're exhibiting racist behavior. Just disagreeing with him doesn't qualify or I'd be kicked out of the club for sure.

I make a personal observation which obviously has some merit, since proposition 8 did pass, and now I brought up the race card?

Well, you did kinda flip it out of the deck like a Vegas dealer.

You see whites all over the news all the time talking in support of gay marriage, how many black people do you see talking in support of it?

How many blacks are being interviewed? And how many do you see talking against it who don't have a Rev. in front of their names?

Blacks are a minority in this country. There are much fewer blacks than there are Hispanics or Whites. Blacks voting in a block, unless there are many more people who support the cause, whether it's electing Obama or passing Prop 8, simply wont cut it.

Just my 2 cents.

I think a lot of people wouldn't really care if they didn't call it "marriage". To most of the country, and especially the conservatives, the term marriage is a vow before God. Christianity is the dominant form of religion in this country, and does not allow for homosexuality. I think that's where some of the problem comes from. Of course some people just want to push their beliefs onto others, conservatives and liberals alike.

Of course you can reverse the argument as well. Some people say we have the right to do as we please, and gay marriage should be allowed because it's personal choice, but we should not have the choice to own a firearm and they should be banned. It's a never ending circle....
