So I'm not really sure where to post this, but since my primary question is related to battery safety, this seemed to be the right place. Long story short, I was in a car wreck, high speed impact two days ago. My Evic VTC Mini (regulated mod with a single 18650) and my Ego One (non-replaceable battery) were with me and went flying.

Today I had a chance to get to the car and found both. Upon initial examination I see nothing noticeably wrong with them. Both had full tanks at the time, and both tanks have leaked significantly, but based on my observations it seems like they are intact. So maybe this is just due to them laying on their sides for two days. But the mods show no damage, other than a very small (as in I probably wouldn't notice it if I wasn't looking for it) scratch in the paint of the Ego One. Also, both were fully charged, and despite being on for two days still are mostly fully charged, so I don't think there is any unusual battery drain going on.

With that said, given that the Ego One does not have a replaceable battery I have no way to judge the battery condition. What concerns if any are there at this point?

The Evic on the other hand I can look at. There is no obvious sign of damage to the battery (LG HE2) or battery compartment. I have removed it, examined the wrap, examined the ends as best I know how, and it seems fine. It fits just as snugly as usual. And like I said it shows as nearly fully charged still so it hasn't been discharging in any way. Is this battery OK to use? If not, batteries are cheap. So next question, is there any reason to be concerned about using the mod itself with a new battery?

This may be paranoid, people drop their mods and use them without much thought to hidden damage. But then again, when you drop them they aren't moving quite as fast as what these potentially did when they (potentially anyway) hit whatever they might have hit.

Firstly I'm glad you are not seriously injured, I'm guessing you wouldn't be posting here other wise.
My initial thoughts would be that they are fine. I'm shooting from the hip here but cells are sensitive to heat and shorts more than mechanical forces, even significant ones. If it gives you peace of mind to replace the 16850 then do it because the cost is negligible. The EGO one is a different matter.

Your tanks probably leaked because of changes in temperature. (Seeing that you live in Indiana and knowing the temperature changes from nightime to daytime there with me next door in Ohio.)

The batteries should be fine. My only concern would have been if we were having 90 degree plus temperatures and the batteries being inside a car for a long period of time in high heat. We all know the warnings not to keep a child or pet inside a car in hot weather --- the same goes for batteries.
