Possibly vaping fiberglass?

I use rebuildable atomizers, and I don't know if I'm making my coils right.

Looooong story short, whenever I look at my coils every once in a while, I see more and more fiberglass wick being cut in half, due to the coils heating up.

Now what I'm worried about, is the fiberglass heating up to the point where it is able to break, and the possibility of vaping the "fumes" of the fiber glass.

Is there a possibility this is happening and how do I prevent this?

I don't think anyone uses fiberglass for wick material. Silica rope and Nextel ceramic wick seem fiberglass-ish-looking. Remember all the crap you used to inhale?

If it's a big issue, try finding cotton wick (untreated). It burns, so you have to keep it wet, but that'd be my best suggestion.

No matter what you're vaping on, you're vaping something. If you're using a carto, you're vaping at least something of the polyfil (which a lot of people can taste). If you're using a clearo, you can taste the wick (silica). If you're vaping an atty, you can taste the mesh. It doesn't matter. The bottom line is, they're made as safe as can be, and whatever you think you're vaping, it's 2304932042305 times better than what you were smoking with cigarettes.

I have looked briefly upon this issue online and found a video that finds an actual fiberglass wick that Zippo uses and a standard silica wick used in vaping. Why you should not use fibreglass(Zippo wick core) wicks - YouTube

I object actually about "no matter what you're vaping on, you're vaping on something" You say you can taste the polyfil/wick, but that is only natural to taste something that hot air is being passed trough. If "vaping with "this" wick means you are vaping "this" material" held true, vaping out of genesis style atomizers(stainless steel mesh for wick) would mean you are vaping stainless steel.

The example of polyfil though is very real, and so is silica wick. Tests have been done where after a cartomizer being used at a very normal rate, there seems to be holes missing of polyfil, even clearly yellowed and charred edges around the polyfil. Vaping polyfil is a very real possibility, and where smoking plant matter and smoke in your lungs is bad, I am sure polyfil in your lungs is somewhat a degree bad, if not, perhaps worse than just "somewhat bad".

Which is why I worry with silica wick. since the fibers are actually heating up the the point of splitting in to pieces.

You could inhale pieces of wick, but you aren't inhaling any fumes from the wick if it is silica. Your atty isn't capable of getting hot enough to melt or burn it. Sometimes it will get brittle, but silica doesn't burn or melt at the temperatures you can create. It takes about three thousand degrees Fahrenheit to melt silica rope.

Good call Six. This is really more of what I was looking for. I thought it was highly unlikely for the silica to melt, but I was trying to find an explanation for the silica fibers breaking in half. Brittle is a lot of an answer, I honestly just didn't even think about it. Lol

Now, when the silica gets brittle and initally breaks in halves, is it possible that is releases some silica into the air that we inhale? Sort of like if you got a stick of cinnamon and snapped it into two, it would release a strong smell of cinnamon in the air.
