Were you trying to upload an image from your computer? The image size limits are very small. If you didn't check the "constrain image size" box and the file size was over the max limit it would blow off the upload.

If you don't have your own web space, you might try uploading your images to one of many photo hosting sites. A good image post requires a URL, unless you're willing to accept thumbnails. With an online address, or URL, you can easily embed by clicking on the
icon above the posting window and entering the URL.

The one that shows on your posts is the avatar. Add it there, and you should see it.
