No, this thread won't be deleted. We get these all the time and the only posts that get deleted are just spam posts to build post count. It's not hard to post in introduction threads and tell what you use or are looking at, how long you smoked and what you smoked.

If you're going to be posting from time to time (be it 1 an hour or 1 a month) limiting the first 5 to here isn't anything abnormal. Plus it helps to get people conversing and being helpful and adding to things. At least for a few times if not long-term.

Okay, maybe not allowing PM until 5 is a bit of a pain in some ways, but that would cut out automatic spam. Manual spammers would have to take the trouble to post 5 times first, but that's what bans are for.

On the other hand, if you're not going to be posting, why would it matter where you can't post?

:)

After trying to join a dog related forum the other day, I don't see ANY reason to complain about 5 posts. Of course, I didn't see any reason before that, but...

First off you had to use a non web based email account, no yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc. Up until 2 years ago my family was military so I have used a yahoo addy forever, it's just easier than changing your email every 3 - 4 years. Had to set up a provider based email especially for registering.

Then you had to fill out all this info, including why you wanted to join the forum. If any of those fields were left blank you didn't get admittance, including the 'reason' field.

Finally you had to do one of those captcha things, you know, please enter the words you see in the box below. Well after 6 tries, knowing that I had refreshed it and typed the correct junk, I gave up and won't be joining that board, ever.

So yeah, I think the 5 post thing is just great, and it definitely could be a lot worse! :p

IMHO, if folks really find it hard work to make 5 posts saying hello, telling us all a bit about themselves (smoking habits/e-cigs already tried) & or just generally chatting - what the heck have they joined a forum for?

ECF is a brilliant forum with an amazing community - so many lovely members here from all over the world.

So come on you folks who are complaining about the 5 post rule, join in & give a little before trying to just take. And Please understand the posting restrictions are there to protect each & everyone of you :)
