One of the mods (sorry, don't remember who) posted instructions for me to post a link and 'write' over it with what I wanted to say but I don't know how to find it.

I thought for sure the instructions would be here. I hate to ask again but if it is put here, I will never have to ask again. :)

You know what I am talking about, right? this . . .

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/65725-response-threads-2378.html#post2487884 but I can change that to say 'snails' if I wanted to.

Here . . . . . . . .

Thank you so much. I swear that wasn't the way I did it before but that seems easy enough.

I remember a little of it from the last time I did it. The link showed up twice. The second half was highlighted and I typed over that. The link doesn't show up like that anymore.

Yes, thank you. Oldsoldier, I presume you are telling me that the way I used to do it, no longer works? The way you showed me works great, though so Thanks.

I'm not a mod, but I'm well versed in fourms.

When you create a link, the code used is typically as follows:
PHP:
 Description

So if you are one to just type out your coding, you can easily create links with your own descriptions :)

PHP:
So if you are one to just type out your coding, you can easily create with your own descriptions
:)

I think its called VBBCode? It works on most forums and has a very similar markup to html.

Excuse the colors in the coding. The php tag is the only one I could use to get the code to display.

Her link doesn't work because she accidentally added an extra "http://" to the beginning of the URL. Other than that, it's fine.

I've always wondered if anyone ever used that 'extra' "http://" default on images for example. No big deal but I always have to delete it first. Again, one key, no biggie but wondered if anyone actually uses it as is.

First I highlight the word I want to be hyperlinked. Say: Find this link here, I highlight the word here. Then I click on the insert link (hyperlink) icon and I delete the inserted http and copy my link into the box. The word here will show in red and when clicked on, will take you to the linked thread or address. Works every time.
