This is probably a really stupid question, but does anyone have any advice for pouring VG (and nic/VG solution) into bottles when making e-liquids? I've heard that using syringes and blunt needles helps, but what do you do when the level in the original container is too low to reach with the syringe? The longest needle tips I can find are 1.5inches, unless anyone knows somewhere to get longer needle tips?

Pour it into a smaller bottle? Funnels are great too. Also squeeze bottles

Pouring it into a smaller bottle is the aim so yeah, a funnel would certainly be a good answer for my stupid question. Don't know why I hadn't thought about that. Time to search the garage :)

I pour my PG and VG into clear condiment bottles (like catsup squeeze bottles). They have large top openings so it's easy to refill them. I drip/squirt PG and VG into a funnel in the juice bottle while the bottle is on the scale. They have a snap on tip seal. Michael's has them, so has Amazon.

Dunworryabaudit. Happens to everyone. Doesn’t even qualify as a stupid question imho.

Don’t forget to wash that funnel really well. Eventually you’ll be breathing whatever is on it

I'd love to try squeeze bottles but I use funnels because I am not buying any or telling the husband to like start hoarding empty mustard bottles when it takes us 6 months to finish one at least. I think you'd have more control though with a squeeze bottle. My VG sort of sludges everywhere Very Slowly and it's easy to overshoot.

One reason I now premix base. That's a heck of a lot easier and more volume total, so easier to deal with. You kinda got to be ready for a certain amount of lack of precision IF you want to mix at slightly different flavoring percentages. I'm usually at around 10% and that seems to work out well.

I broke down and bought a bag of em at marshal’s. They ARE really handy. Much faster than syringes.

I've been using the clear condiment squeeze bottles for PG and VG since I started DIY. On a scale doing DIY by weight they are optimal, IMO. I just tilt the bottle over the funnel in the bottle on the scale and apply light pressure to make it drip. It stops when you aren't pressing. I can drip a drop or force a stream with good control over the flow rate.

@Violetti Usva, the only "stupid" question, is the one that isn't asked. Please don't ever hesitate/be embarrassed. The obvious answers have got past me more than once too.

Transferring your residuals to a more accessible container (so you can measure it out) would be my answer to.:D

I still believe a question can be stupid. It just takes a lot of work and planning. @sebastianbach has made some valiant attempts for example. I am but a student before his greatness

These for your juice bottles. Hang a paperclip in the bottle mouth then use the smallest funnel. I also keep my pg/vg in bottles like MikeP shows above. Any discount or grocery store should have them. I mix by weight with a scale now, but started with syringes.

bottle->bottle = funnel.
a set of 4 differently sized funnels made of resistant plastic will cost you $3.99 at the supermarket. that's not only practical and cheap, you also don't look like a drug dealer, or drug addict, when you're doing your work.
I got some of those & they were too big for my juice bottles. The tiny ones are used for essential oils.

He's definitely my favourite troll of all time - not just on this forum.

What does the paperclip do?

Well, as a former drug addict there's very little I can do where I don't think I look like a drug addict. Buying shoes is a nightmare "oh, those look formal...but I suppose they just look like the kind of shoes a junkie would buy when he's trying to convince people he's not a junkie"

Thanks for all the responses, I found a funnel in the garage but it looks a bit filthy - I've put it in the dishwasher and will decide when its done whether its usable or if I just need some new ones :)[/QUOTE]

Good question, I use a Rubbermaid (happened to be gathering dust in the kitchen cabs.) similar to:
https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Hydration-Bottle-Clementine-1927139/dp/B00XNQ7P38
Mine may be a bit smaller but the key thing is the cap unscrews so I can fill from a VG gallon container without a funnel and fill large syringes 60 ml. to 3-1/2mls with the main cap off. For 1 ml. syringe, the top flips up. I believe these shown are 20 oz., you may be able to find a smaller oz. capacity at the dollar store.
When I drip unflavored VG, I transfer from the Rubbermaid to a typical catsup squeeze bottles as shown in DaveP post above.

What does the paperclip do?
The liquid will flow down the paperclip instead of around the edge of the bottle and into your lap, it acts as a guide and helps aiming.

Kind of like when you pour something from a pot you can hold a spoon vertically to the edge of the pot and the liquid will flow down the spoon and not down the pot.

The funnel will completely block the mouth of the juice bottle. The paperclip hung in the neck of the bottle before placing the funnel will give the funnel a little gap away from the bottle to vent the air in the bottle as it's displaced by the liquid. No venting = a big fat mess. Liquid in, air out.
