There's no doubt you will save money by punching your own. Having said that, I've been using Smoktech single coil 3.0 Ohm prepunched cartos with 3 holes recently and I've been finding them very long lasting and also extremely reliable. I can get at least a week (10-15ml of juice) out of each one, and often as much as 10 days (15-20ml of juice). They perform really well with any PG/VG ratio above 20% PG, they rarely flood and never fail to wick. Could be worth a try if you can find them.

When rationalizing my vaping expenses, I always recall that I spent $5 - $6 a day on cigarettes and thought nothing about it. Spending $2 on a laser-drilled cartomizer that will last me 1 - 3 weeks seems like nothing when compared to what I spent on cigarettes.

I have other thoughts on tool-punched carto's vs laser-drilled cartos. The tool-punched cartos invariably become deformed after the hole is made, casing the metal casing to become oval-shaped where it was once round. Putting an oval shaped object through a round hole with minimal play (a tank's end cap) can cause unnecessary wear and tear on the cap's o-rings. The o-rings are extremely important as they keep the tank from leaking e-liquid.

Using laser-drilled cartos totally eliminates the above issue. However, the top edge of a carto is sharp and can also cut into an end cap's o-rings. A tank tool can further save your o-rings.

I've written a tutorial on cartotank setup in my blog. In this blog article is a video on the use of the Slap Yo Moma tank accessory tool, which I strongly recommend you watching. This tool will help you to protect your o-rings, and also greatly assists you in setting up your tank and refilling it.

I have a large list of online vendors that sell the laser-drilled cartos here:

A learning curve applies to punching cartos. I punch my own using a Siam Mods V2 carto punch. Experimentation is key.

I've been vaping quite a while using cartos alone but I'm fairly new to using a carto tank. I suspect that the holes in pre-punched cartos would be too small for my high percentage VG juice, regardless of number. The V2 makes bigger holes than a saddle valve and I had to experiment with 2, 3 and currently 4 holes to find an optimal solution. Of course, I could just thin my juice with a little more H2O to use fewer holes but I still have 100 ml or so of thicker juice to use before I get around to mixing another batch.

The Siam Mods V2 doesn't distort the cartos much. Phiniac has a video explaining how to use it.
