That's the reason I went to an email account separate from my ISP years and years ago.
Have actually been using a free email account as my main one for years now; mail.com

Fran, you'll want to look for an 'export' function with your current email. 'Export' (save) your current email to your computer. Then with the new email account you'll probably be able to 'import' the saved emails.

One possible way to handle the email. Phone company's DSL website should have some suggestions on transferring old email to a new account.
