I prefer a spring loaded switch over a magnetic switch any day. I am not a fan of magnetic switches.
I'm with you, in my limited exposure. I upgraded my Nemesis to magnets in hopes of relieving its clunkiness to little avail. My Stingray has magnets and it's similarly clunky. That's probably all due to the design though.

So you can't remove the switch to clean inside the cap where the switch passes through? If so, that's a critical area that needs to be cleaned periodically as it builds up gunk and corrosion and will limit performance as the connection degrades as this switch ground via two ways, friction between the switch and the cap where it passes through and through the spring. Also, for those who have the Schaf switch, I'd recommend using the spring version, the magnets eliminate the dual grounding feature.

You made me look....:) I thought it was pressed on but it is not, my bad...
Here you go David:

Switch housing--Button--Copper bottom post holder w/magnet insert... Insert button into bottom of Switch housing, then screw on copper post holder--(Locks button into switch housing) Screw on OEM SuperT bottom post and screw the assembled unit into the bottom of the ELA...

Schafer magnets are not clunky.....

The problem I see with that is a one piece switch then you'd have to have the entire switch plated, and when the plating wears, you'd have to replace the entire switch, not just the contact itself.
As far as the copper post holder goes it appears to be 100% copper with magnet inserted in center?

+1 Schafer button. Smooth and fires all the time. Not clunky on bit....

Any news on order shipment on ela v2. Update appreciated.

Tia
Schafer switch is wonderful, but I will probably still order a ELA V1 flat bottom switch... I would like to check out the one I have on order with my ELA V2 first..... ELA V2 shipment updates would be great David so I don't miss out on ordering a V1 switch before it sells out....I am a long way off but order # 19688

Proper fitting magnets will always be smoother than ANY spring - period. After that, it's just a matter of taste and in a lot of mods, it's really hard to notice the difference. I have magnets in a lot of my mods, and particularly, the Nemesis is stiffer with the magnets (but, still smoother). Springs are fine, magnets are fine - whatever you like. Although my HADES came with magnets that are...WAY too strong.

Thanks, so the Schaf and the Satburn use the same design concept with a screw in brass piece that screws into the button and then the switch post in turn screws into the brass piece. Our design eliminates one of these electrical junctions as our design has the switch post screwing directly into the button itself. Every electrical junction you can eliminate lowers the overall resistance in the circuit.

Not sure if I agree with that. Depends on what you are used to. Why would magnets always be smoother? How do you come to that conclusion? Magnets weaken just like springs would weaken over time. I believe springs are safer in a switch than magnets.

They may make a difference in some mods, not in others. If a spring rubs the interior of the tube, magnets would surely be smoother. In the Super-T flat button's case there is plenty of clearance around the spring and all you have is the opposing force against two surfaces just like magnets, so the only difference I think you'd feel is whatever difference in force that would be.

Well, I had some very fine glass bead sitting around so I figured I'd change up the new ELA. It's hard to capture in the pic, but this media produced a velvety satin that's somewhat lighter than the stock satin. I thought I was going to like the bottom cap to remain polished, but I did end up blasting that too (after masking the inset pieces of the accent ring and top cap so they'd stay shiny).
All in all, I'm pretty pleased with it. It's just enough to make it not shiny, but it doesn't have that same sparkly luster of David's satin.

Or Copper in the case of the Schafer switch;)

That's what I love about David's Satin finish.... I call it a Silky Grey look.....
