My Dear freckle, like I said I was not in any way , shape or form, knocking the Darwin. The point I was making was it is kinda boxy. And believe me I can understand your love of the Darwin, and I do know that beauty does not mean quality in most things in life.
I know the Darwin will continue to be a "prize" and those who know, will treasure them. Im not into VV or VW, so its features are lost on me.
Heck for years people have been telling me to get rid of my old clunker of a car, but I love it. It has no real power, its not a head turner, but its a tank and will probably out last most of the new cars that cost 100x as much.
I am also one of those people that if I was told I could have any car , ANY car free and free of all costs to own, Id choose a 68 Karmann Ghia. Most people think its ugly, but to me its a beauty.
Right! Don't tell us 75 or so will be shipping by weeks end and then were here now at weeks end and its more like 10-15 units shipping.....this is getting a bit ridiculous im # 14627 and if it keeps going like this im still a few weeks off....I am NOT canceling my Pre-order because with every update I read I keep thinking mines shipping soon just to be pushed back again. but I will def not pre order anything again.
The one best thing about vaping, we all have opinions. With as many great products out there we can all find something that pleases us. I mean that is what it is about right? Pleasing ourselves. Don't worry what someone says about your car. Just as I don't worry about someone commenting about anything I own. I own it for me, not for anyone else.
I just commented to say that I have heard the darwin called a lot of things, but never a box mod.
Tire gauge or calculator, many times, but never a box mod. Oh and my first cell phone, I only wish that it were that small.

FWIW, like many of you here, I own a lot of quality mods, and will soon be the owner of a fully inspected, 100% as advertised, proudly made in the USA piece of art, and I can't wait (well I can wait, but you know what I mean.)
I am reading a lot of dissing about the pinoy stuff, and to be very honest, at the moment, my fav mechanical mod is the Nzonic...that's the one the ELA is supposed to dethrone The Nzonic retired the legacy mini, which completely buried the 69...

Roughly, what is the expected ETA of an ELA, at this point? I am thinking of pre-ordering one.

Pre-order ASAP and you'll be on the list for the second batch. At the current rate, expect a few months' wait time probably. (And hey, if you get it sooner, then surprise!) General consensus from those who have received is that, yes, the ELA delivers on its promises and then some.
If you don't pre-order soon, they aren't going to be available for a long time as I understand it. There are only a few slots left in batch 2.
It's the beginnings of batch 1 that are shipping now.
Don't give an update or an estimated schedule, and you get criticized for not giving updates. Give updates and an estimated schedule and then get criticized for not meeting an estimated goal.
Note the use of estimated, not promised.

Say the word, I can be there in an hour and half boxing and making sure ELAs don't fire when standing on end (we all know that's a myth anyway - they can't stand on end.) It's best if you don't let me near the power tools.

Yeah well like I said before....im not like most of you and have a collection of high end mods, RBA's ect. to vape on while I wait a year for this mod to ship to me. this is not a hobby for me to where im investing tons of money in a mod collection... I decided to quit smoking so then I also decided if im making the switch to vaping I want the best mod I can find end of story and I would do all my future vaping on this one mod..one that is versatile and made in the USA so I chose the ela and I also said to myself after seeing the pre order est. time of 8 weeks max that in my mind ide cut some slack and be fine with 10weeks (it is a preorder and things happin) but im approaching 13weeks. and still waiting on basically my Cigarette replacement.
Bob Ross didn't need to delegate. He did 75 paintings in a week w/o any help. Not sure weather or not Monet used apprentices... It was not uncommon, at all, for the great masters to delegate various operations to apprentices and students.
Michelangelo, for example, was not the only artist to put hammer & chisel to the block of marble that became the statue of David.
The key is to have skilled people that you trust performing various operations. Most of the operations that Dave listed, don't require the hands of a master machinist... They simply require the hands of an attentive, detail oriented individual who knows what passes inspection and what doesn't.
If a part needs refinishing, then yes, let Dave do it.

Lets see, a few examples of things that were put out to fast just to make "the people happy" :
Windows Vista, I phone 4, Windows 8, Zune, and the list can go on and on. These were products that all had big glitches due to putting them out too fast just to keep up or give people what they thought they needed. They were all put out in a panic to keep up with a certain "fruit" company or just to top themselves too fast.
Maybe David can take those ELAs for the people who are getting "impatient" and slap them together with out the QT , send them out fast and take the lifetime warranty off. Im sure that most will be fine, but if there is a problem in the future due to burrs or something just off a tad and those same impatient people will be screaming about a shoddy product and lack of "stand behind your product" there is.

hey man...i do feel your pain. i haven't been waiting NEAR as long and i'm dying to have it my hands too. i'm running a BOLT right now..that's about as "high end" as a Kia Sopia LOL

Atleast you used Best Buy....if you would have said Wal-Mart I would have taken offense.
One thanks giving evening we heard that Toys R us was opening at midnight, we decided to take off and beat the rush. We showed up at 11 pm (clueless) the line was no kidding like a mile long. We decided there was nothing in there we needed that bad, so we drove around looking at all the other stores. Best Buy, they actually had tents out there and these small little grills. It wasn't just one person with a tent either, there were many! Crazy I tell you, totally crazy!
