The bad part is it is for my father that only uses carto tanks. I was lucky enough to get him one, but I lagged because of the normal cash issues lol. The mind bending part is that this is a man that taught me everything I know about electronics, yet he refuses to learn how to wrap his own coils lol. The guy can dismantle and put together both cars and firearms, but can't wrap a coil lol. Boggles my mind....

I'm posting this here because it's been discussed here, as opposed to starting a thread no one will read. I mindlessly threw an 18490 in my pocket this morning on the way to work because I was running late. I totally forgot about it. I got a soda on break and threw my change in my pocket. About ten minutes later I smelt smoke and all of a sudden I was on fire! It burned a hole thru my pocket, and the pants. when I quickly got everything out of my pocket, keys, provari, change and said battery, everything was, sans the provari, too hot to hold. The battery didn't vent but it's melted and ruined along with my pants and my reputation as a noncrazy person at work. Lesson learned; respect the battery!

Bummer but you survived the ordeal. Use the new crazy persona to your advantage, repeat those motions during the battery incident when given an assignment you don't want, they'll find someone else to do it :) I'll ask this question again, the 1st time when a bad atty shorted out the battery to the ELA body ... shock, heat, OUCH! etc. Never got an answer back so here it is again - was your 18490 a protected battery? If so the short circuit protection ain't worth squat and I've heard that before on these so called "safe" batteries.

It was the red AW IMR that you get from Provape. So yes?

LOL. No one has accused me of being hot in a few years, but I'm working on that.

Tripple digits half way to home
And the lesson we learned with this is?
1. BATTERY SAFETY!!!!!
2. Those little dumb looking plastic boxes work really well and are very pocket friendly.
3. RESPECT ALL BATTERIES.
4. Batteries are not to be taken lightly.
5. See all the above!!!!!!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I'm just glad your ok my friend. Bad things can happen to good people when batteries or any voltage comes into play. (Still got the scar on my leg to prove what 480 VAC looks like when it comes out of your body). But I did learn a new language that day. :D

Looks like there were some cancellations...ela now in stock...go go go. To bad accent rings arent

That moves the rest of us up a little :) Need some advice on a source for high quality Kanthal wire and Silica or Ecowool. First, it seems Ecowool is preferred over Silica generally, is that right? Given I will be using the KF Lite, what gauge/size of each should I start out with? I'm not afraid to try a micro coil, just want a good starting point and a supplier who can provide the high quality stuff.
