what can I say, I would not pay that much for anything out there even if I had the money. BUT...... If I had the money, Id say the ELA is worth it.

Really for the engineering and the amazing way this thing feels, just the weight compared to other metal PVs. At least you are getting a big chunk of beautifully machined steel. It has just enough adjust-ability without being a "Rubik's cube"

You can tear it down and put it back together with out getting a head ache.

It looks good with just about any topper.

Just my 2 cents, like I said, if Im going to throw down twice what something sold for it would be an ELA.

I paid twice the retail for my first Odysseus. I had just sold my first photograph and had the money burning a hole. I saw one for sale and at that time ( about a year ago) Odys were scarce. I dont regret it at all.

I agree with all your points...maybe i need to hold it in my hands..already pm the seller..

Say if it was your 1st ELA, if there was an option to have it asap by paying double, would u go for it?

Was thinking of asking you guys how to check if its genuine or clone..but then again, i strongly believe there is no clone for the ELA..right?

I seen the listing too. Looks amazing. I would ask what all the seller is offering with the ELA.(does it have all the bells & whistles)

Even so, the listing I seen was $450 plus you pay the fees. I was in the potential buyers shoes not long ago, and I turned down the ELA at such a ridiculous price. Is the ELA a great device? Yes! Absolutely! Would I drop a mortgage on the ELA? Eh, no! Absolutely not.

I held my ground and grabbed the ELA for $250.

It's your call. It's your money.

If you have the money, go for it. If you got it and it disappointed you , Im sure you wont have any problems making your money back. It is a hard to find item and I hear of people offering 5x in trades.

There was an ELA clone at alibaba, it was advertised for about 3 weeks, dont know if any shipped. Im pretty sure that it would be easy to tell a clone from the real thing. The machining and the rhodium contacts as well as so many intricate machining that i dont think they can come close.

I don't have an ELA but my TI Rulez..

I don't know why anyone would want a ELA except as a backup when you could have a Ti..

Get out. We'll have none of that talk.

I agree!. When you compare it to other mods on the market, the ELA is under priced. Once you own one, you know your $189 was about $100 bucks less than it should have cost. I completely understand why David will charge more for the next gen of ELA's. 500 units x $189 = $94,500 revenues (not counting rings or ext. tubes) I'm clearly no expert but when you factor in the cost of CNC programming, maintenance, support, materials R&D and the amount of hand finishing time, you have very little left over in profit.

In all honesty if it were me, I would wait for the Simplicitiy to be back in stock and buy two of those before I gave someone $400 for an ELA. Yes the ELA is a great mod but my Simplicity 14500 and Provari get the job done just the same.

$400 is only double the price so it's a questions of if it's worth it to you..

Some mods go for 4 or 5 times their retail price.

Me personally, I would not pay double the retail price for anything but that's just me.

Is the ELA worth $400? Sure as it's an innovative, well built mod created by the master.

If cash is not a concern for you and you don't mind paying the flipper prices then I'd say go for it..

I agree, the Simplicity and the ELA pack the same wallop, Its just a matter of your needs. For me its the diameter, it works well with your larger tank atomizers, but looks beautiful with more slender and even real small drippers.

I love the slimness and simple form factor of the Simplicity. It goes well with my little dripper and will be amazing with the Strata. Im such a fan of tank rebuildables though, I will have to see about getting a Penelope to top it.

There are pros and cons on each, but ones cons are anothers heaven.

I still don't understand that, even from a collector's perspective. I own one mod that I've seen sell for almost 10 times retail . . . I even seriously considered selling after seeing that. The reason I didn't sell was not because I wouldn't have liked the money or that I loved the mod too much to part with, but because I'm one of those who would feel bad about hosing somebody that badly

That said, I've overpaid for gear before and the ELA is definitely an awesome mod. How much it's worth to any one person, though, is up to them ;-)

True that. Each device has its merits. I sold my Simplicity 14500 because it was just too small but the button on it was hands down the smoothest I've ever had. The ELA is just hands down the best all around mod I've ever had. I bought a P+ 18650 to tide me over until I got my ELA. Then I saw my Taifun GS on it and can't bring myself to sell it yet because they look like they belong together.
