I just take mine apart, soak in hottest tap water and soap. Make sure you have the sink plugged up or use a small strainer so little bits dont go down the drain. I then use a small soft tooth brush and or little tiny micro brushes to scrub the threads and inside. Take out , rinse, dry. If you have a blower go for it. THen I use high proof alchohol to swab and clean the threads, buttons etc. Very important areas are button and locking ring.

If you dont want to take the locking ring compression band off, use a q-tip to clean under and around the threads. Youd be surprised even after the bubble bath and scrubbing how much black muck comes off the locking ring and buttons.

Oh , and dont forget the Vixens:)

I can actually take it apart, take the battery out, put it back together and the charge is still there.. I'm not concerned by this... I just thought it was interesting. Can anyone else do this little experiment? I also considered that it could be the mixture of the aluminum band and the stainless housing. I just thought it was neat.

A mystery indeed! If I were to guess at what's happening - maybe when you fire up the ELA you put a surface charge on the housing and that's what you are reading. The reason it dissipates when you measure it is that your DVM slowly bleeds off the charge. That's why you can take it apart, take the battery out, put it back together and the charge is still there. Why your Cronus doesn't exhibit that same characteristic could be that the housing, coating or surface finish is not conducive to surface charge build up. Again, just a guess and nothing more.

Not the first time I've heard of some capacitance in a mod. I remember a while back a certain maker (one that loves to toot his own horn when there's nothing to toot about) was touting it as a benefit of his device over others . . . failed to point out that it did happen with other mods, though

I do believe I know exactly who you are referring too. I went down that road and turned around to find my way out :)

I think they are still there. I sent a PM to buy them. Thanks for the "heads up"
It's Infrnl, he is a solid and fantastic guy. He hangs here and on our GP thread.
Nice to see you back from your hiatus my man. Good to have you back.

Shhhh. Don't let him know, he'll ttalk about how he 'invented' capacitance and how everyone else are "copiers" ;)

Hahahahaha! Yep, bingo. I sold and gave away everything down to my last spring. He invented springs also. Biggest bath I have taken in mod history.

Shipping notice received for two solid top caps; one traditional, one mag wheel. :)

Hopefully my next shipping notice will be for the strata or the second ela. That is, unless I buy something else in the interim.

If I got a shipping notice right now, I have no idea what it would be for. I am losing track of my 'incoming'.:facepalm:
