I don't have anything near as nice as my ELA... I've resorted to using a combination of old Egos and a beat-up Reo Mini as my backup. Sending it in was a *very* hard decision.

I bet it was hard. Personally, I could not do it until I got my backup ELAs. I probably would have smoked. That would have been bad!

I'm looking forward to hearing "how bad" my ELA is...

It can be so nerve racking. Its hard going back to using "other" devices, especially if they are much less advanced. I had to send in both my ELAs , but I do have a little Simplicity 350 Ti and the Natural to keep me going.

I got a shipping notice this morning. At first I thought : "What"? then I remembered my ELAs are coming home. I should have them by Weds, I said should , because last time I sent one back it took 10 days instead of the 2 that Priority says.
Tracking showed it left the same day of the notice but got hung up somewhere. Let me tell you , that was an excruciating 10 days, I thought the worst.

Did you say the compression band was off or the actual locking band? Just wanted to clarify that, as I kept replacing the compression bands with new ones. Thanks so much. I too was getting hot buttons and rebuilding the atties a LOT. But when I put the atties on my Simplicity or on other devices , no hot button.

The aluminum compression bands were overly "compressed" and the locking ring ran out of travel to tighten any further. Firm but fair on the knurled tightening ring is all you need,. If your tube moves, loosen the lock ring and go back to "firm but fair" tightening it. Over tightening won't give any more clamping force and just toasts the compression bands inside. I shaved down the knurled tightening ring about .010 to give you a bit more tightening travel so you can probably reuse your used compression bands a bit more, but I put two new ones in to start you off.

On your center posts and the one that has the Rhodium wore off. When putting on an atomizer/rba, always back the center post off first. Then put on your atomizer/rba and tighten them down and then tighten the post up to the atomizer. I don't recommend ever tightening the rba/atomizer down onto the post as I've seen too many atomizer/rba center posts that are just machined so jagged, they just tear into your post. By backing off the post, you aren't putting the full force of the rba/atomizer turning grinding down onto your center post. Instead, back the center post off, screw on the rba/atomizer and adjust your center post back up to contact it. You can control the force much easier that way. We don't have any Rhodium plated posts in stock though, but to me, your worn one only looks down to the Gold plating, not brass yet.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for the details. THe wear on the post happened when I first got it. I was attaching the atty the way I was told to by the modder out of habit which was not necessary, in hindsight, as the ELAs center pin can be adjusted to reach the contact.

I now attach the atty and then bring to ELA pin to it till it just makes contact. I know it should never be tight.
As soon as those pins are available I will be getting at least 3, one to replace the damaged one and then 2 to have for the future. I hope you get enough for all of us OCD ELA owners. You know how we are....... Must have back ups since these are going to be in our possession till our last breath.

Is there a method you can suggest to clean the compression bands without bending them when removing them for cleaning? I try not to remove them now, but its sometimes hard to get under everything with a Q-tip or soft brush.

Ignore all that. It's just gobbledy ...., jibber jabber written by David's lawyers for stupid people. The right way to do it is to get a set of ViseGrips, lock it down on the lock ring and then really torque down on the ViseGrips until they won't move any more. You'll know you've done it right when the knurling is a little battle worn from the ViseGrips or you've passed out from using all your energy trying to tighten it further.

Push them sideways and then pull them out (I do it in the video which I will try to finish editing and get up). You can bend them (just bend them back), bending them isn't the problem, compressing them from overtightening is, it actually starts to dig into the sides of them.

Day 2. I sit alone on a damp and dismal rainy night. My ELA left two days ago for refinishing... my lovely, lovely ELA. And now, I wait. Time passes excruciatingly slow, as the cold rain gently falls slowly downward, like my spirits fell the moment it left. There is nothing now that can quench my insatiable thirst for that sweet, sweet vape. So I sit alone, simultaneously optimistic and full of dread at the painful wait that lies ahead. I must be strong and persistent. My day will come.

With the pre-orders on everything nearly at an end. Are there any plans to start making more accessories for the ELA's Such as the Simplicity style switches, the knurled accent rings and the solid extensions? Or possibly more ELA's too?

Yes. My first on the list would be the DNA20 module, or even a DNA30 module since they've made that version after the DNA20 module for the ELA was announced.
