Ok so I went to a local Vape shop called Palm Beach Vapors. Really nice people and I bought a starter kit. This was last weekend and I have not smoked a real cigarette since I got it, which I am THRILLED about. It has not even been as hard as I thought to let them go. Now, I had no clue what to buy, I had not found this forum yet to research more. I bought what they recommended to me which was a Smok Trophy V2. I bought the glass tank that went with it. It seems to work fine and put out decent vapor. I am quickly becoming obsessed with trying new things lol I saw some threads on here with pretty fancy vape stuff and I am wondering what I can use to modify the look of this thing? It's not ugly, it is cute as it is Purple with a purple glass tank. But I want more tanks and maybe some other drip tips. Can I use any other tankson this or do they have to be the Smok ones? Does anyone know? I was not comfortable with plastic tanks because I always have heard that glass is better than plastic etc, is this true or not? If I can use different items or brands for tanks etc and to bling up my vapor cig, can you guys please post links to any good accessory places? Thank you!!

If you battery has Ego and/or 510 threading (an industry standard) any tank with either one of these threads will work. If you are looking for a new tank I would suggest you look at an Aspire mini-Nautilus with the new BVC's (bottom vertical coils) or a Kanger Aerotank. Both of these are glass and both have adjustable airflow control.

Make sure to open all his links! Two of those links are:

* A "HUGE" list of juice and flavorings that may cause problems as far as cracking, fogging, or etching polycarbonate tanks (compiled by ECF member my4jewels).

The Smok Trophy's threaded connection at the bottom is "510" threading which is an industry standard. If you want something similar I would suggest either a Kanger Aerotank or an Aspire Nautilus Mini. Both are really well made with the Kanger being a little cheaper for both the tank and the coils.

Here are some hardware sites I've ordered from (and would order again from)

101vape.com
discountvapers.com
madvapes.com
fluidvapes.com
vapedojo.com
vapenw.com
eciggity.com
Fasttech.com (based in china, you really have to pay attention to reviews and in stock items, free shipping is 2 to 4 weeks but they are cheap and HUGE!)

Juice sites
Mtbakervapor.com
killer-juice.com

I make my own juice now with ingredients from wizardlabs.us, vaporshots.com and killer-juice.com. I just spent $70 for 1200 mls total of DIY juice! That's like .06 a ml.

Good luck and always a good idea to ask this forum about tanks, devices and websites before you order.

Well, since you didn't do any research beforehand, you actually lucked out with a decent product; Smok products are very good.

The first and most important thing you will need for this tank are some replacement coils for it -- who cares what it looks like, it needs to be able to vape reliably or you won't use it, and the coils DO wear out; how long they last depends on a) the particular ejuice, and b) how, and how often, you use it.

You didn't say what actual mod (the actual 'e-cigarette' that's under it) you got to run the thing, so it's impossible to know which resistance coils would be best; if your mod is a standard eGo type, no variable voltage, then 1.5 to 1.8 ohms is probably the best choice. If it's a mod that allows you to vary the voltage or wattage, then it's best to go for higher resistance, 2.4 to 3 ohms, as they will save battery life, and deliver a more pleasing vape.

Once you get the basics, replacement coils, so you can be sure the thing will keep functioning reliably, then you can worry about how it looks. I don't know if they make replacement tanks (the glass part) for that particular clearomizer; it may be that you just buy a whole new Trophy v2 if you want different colored glass, and yes, most of these things can use ONLY the glass tank that is made for them, as they are made to exact size and shape for a specific clearomizer. You can do a google search to turn up the best price; when you're looking for something specific like this, then eBay is certainly a reasonable choice, and sometimes the prices there are excellent -- but they're not always the BEST prices; you may have to hunt around for that.

The driptip, on the other hand, appears to be a standard 510 driptip, so you could use any 510 driptip you like -- I tend to switch mine around wholesale, because I don't really care for most metal tips, unless they're *solid* stainless -- I don't like chrome, to me they're cold.

And hey, welcome to ECF!! Congrats on the no-smoking!! :thumb:

just a suggestion, but I wouldn't go too crazy, if like most other vapers you will soon find that you want more. You will start looking into APV's and mech's. (advanced personal vaporizers, and mechanical units) As you gain experience just start window shopping and looking at the millions of devices available. Do a little bit of research on them and you'll probably end up do as most of us have done. Upgrading. I started with an ego last year at Christmas. I now own 8 assorted devices and about 12 tanks.

The biggest thing to remember is that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. We are all here to help and have all been in your shoes at one time.

I got my Daughter a Vision Spinner ll and Aspire Nautilus tank the battery I bought in purple and picked up a replacement glass tank for the Nautilus in purple, mine are black and clear it is a great set up just the change of coils when they start to pull hard or lose taste. The Nautilus tanks are standard 510 threads and will fit yours

So true. I have 6 Kanger T3S tanks, and now that I have 2 kayfuns and a really nice cartotank, the T3S's are in the back of the drawer. They were cheap, but for $36 (6 x $6), I could buy another KFL+!

Congratulations!
the "Trophy V2" is a tank - so we don't know exactly what battery you're using with it.
But other posters have noted - it IS a standard connection - called a "510" connector - which means the battery and tank are both going to be interchangeable with a lot of other options. And one post listed many popular online stores you can shop at.

If you are considering a new tank or a new battery, you can post a photo or a link (or a link TO a photo) and we'll be able to give specific advice on how good that model is.

Have fun!!
Finding the equipment that makes you happy becomes a hobby for a lot of folks.
Juice too - that's an entire adventure as well with endless options.

All very good points. Unfortunately I didn't research before, you are right lol I am one of these people who decides they want something and I want it NOW which is never a good thing usually but at least it has worked thus far for what I wanted, which is to stay off of regular cigs.

I did get coils that came with the kit, I have 4 more and she said those should last several months. The batteries say Kangertech actually and I think this link it to the same ones I have
Kanger E-vod battery – KangerTech

So I hope that is decent, it seems to work ok for a starter.

I do have a lot to learn, I just jumped the gun looking at all the awesome things available lolol

Funny thing is int he store the girl was like oh this one looks nice with it and bla bla bla and I was like who cares, I don't need cute. Then I saw cute and I was like wannnnnts. But I will hold off a little and only get a few things. I might need a whole different set of things later. Thank you all for the info. Gonna keep reading first.

The kanger batteries are good quality so you shouldn't have any problems there. Just keep the connection clean and dry with a paper towel each time you remove the tank. The battery should last about 300 charges before it starts to lose battery life.

As for the coil life that will really depend on how much and what type of juice you vape. Darker and sweeter juices will foul a coil quicker. When you notice a drop in flavor and vapor it's time to change out. The spent coils can be cleaned too by soaking in hot water or vodka overnight. After a soak, rinse them and let them dry. At some point you could learn to rebuild the coils which is much easier than it sounds.

Well you have already gotten some wonderful answers to I just wanted to say
RA-YellowroseMouse207-welcome.gif
to ecf Summerc25. No such thing as a stupid question. There are always some pretty wonderful people here that want to help. Between plastic and glass tanks, I don't know if one is better than the other operationally because I have been pleased with both but I know glass is easier to keep clean and you can put whatever type of juice you want in them. I always preferred glass when I started out.

Here is a thread I use to check before I started DIY. Lots of good deals listed here. You may already know of it but I thought I'd throw it in there.
