Just get a standard atomizer and try it. Then you can experiment with different atomizers, dedicated dripping types, etc. later.

Don't forget to blow out the primer. You'll probably want a drip tip (not an absolute necessity either). You can just remove the plastic cartridge, drip, and put it back on to vape. It can be messy that way. But it's OK to experiment to see if you like dripping. The carts that come on many atomizers are fine...they even have the fluff removed already. If you have an old cart that you're using...remove the fluff first. Trim a bit off the end (a mm or two) to stop it from melting onto the bridge.

How can you tell a non-drip-tip e-cig dripper? By the drops of e-juice on his shirt.....

Using the carts helps prevent juice-in-mouth but it has to be removed to drip. The drip tip...is just a tube with a hole in the center. Get the largest diameter hole in the center tip that you can find.

When dripping was "invented" they didn't make "dripping atomizers". And 1/2 the time, those that de-bridged the atomizer had leaking issues.

If you think about it, the mesh that's over the bridge and the other mesh at the bottom is only there for one reason...to hold juice. It's basically a "mesh wick". You know, the type of thing that everyone is trying to "roll" for all those RBA's and tanks. lol. It's already there...and standard.

Even "bridgeless" atomizers have mesh in them to hold the juice. Just no bridge. And unless you overheat the atty it's just more wicking holding onto more juice. So I just use standard atomizers. They're less expensive too. Same flavor to me. They do vary in quality though, so it may depend on what one you get.

They lasted a month or two for me...back when I was dripping. Blow em out twice per day. Rinse when they get gunked and warm-burn (don't pop em). And I used mostly-clear juices that didn't gunk as much (personal preference).

Note atomizer <> cartomizer. And cart <> carto. Carts go with atomizers. Carto is an abbreviation for cartomizer.

:2c:

He is talking about the empty cartridges that usually ship with atomizers. Not a cartomizer.

Single Empty 510 Round Cartridge
+1

I generally used authentic Joye atomizers when I could find them. If you have VV, use standard ohm range (like about 2.5 ish)

Op, this has been asked a thousand times ... once or twice by me... So don't feel bad, I still don't get it either. Since we are on the topic here I hope you wont mind if I ask a few questions for clarification.

First, what is the difference between bridged and bridgeless?

I have an ego type A atomizer, I think... It is cone shaped and has a plastic cart (i think its a cart anyways) that you put your juice in then insert into the cone.

I thought I'd give it a shot because the were on sale when I was buying juice.. so I figure what the hay. I hear rave reviews about the HH whatever's, but dude. Really? $25 for an atty? Common now.

I don't really like the ego one thought... Seems to hit weak and has a very airy draw. I like to hear some sizzle when I take a hit... psychologically its just more satisfying. No clue why. I definitely will be picking up some 510's though, to check them out. They seem to get mentioned quite often and by those of you who have been around the block perse.

But could someone please explain what makes the HH so much better than a regular atty? If I do get it, I just want to feel like I am making an informed purchase.

I won't pay $25.00 for an atomizer!!!!! It CAN'T be that much better. And it isn't.

A bridge on an atomizer is a little metal pole covered with mesh that sticks up in the center of the atomizer. It is used as a wick to wick fluid from the fluff in the cart. Alas, the carts hold only a few drops of liquid and various attempts have been made to enhance how they work (or actually make them kinda work). If you're real bored, search for "PTB" and "blue foam" to name a few. lol.

So bridgeless doesn't have that. Just has some mesh in the bottom with silica wicks and a coil+cup. Used for dripping only since there's nothing to wick from the cart to the coil.

Anyway...the "tank type carts" with a hole and a spike in the atty are not the type you want for dripping.

Standard atomizers (Joye) used to run about 7 to 10 USD back when I used them. Lasted a month or two (I changed them out once a month and threw the old one in the "spare" bin if it was working OK).

OMG! I'm totally following what you are saying! This is a first and VERY exciting for me woot lol.

So you are supposed to have filler material inside of the cart? All I have in mine is juice... it seems to be working, oddly enough. Was I supposed to put the filler in myself? Bcz mine came to me empty. Just was a plastic whistle like looking thing inside of the cone. I know there has got to be better attys out there though... cuz this is nothing to be excited about. But until I can discern between good equipment and bad equipment, I think I will hold off on purchasing the holy grail of attys. I think a 510 will suit me just fine.

I don't need to add any filler or anything to those, do I?

Thanks for all the info and tips btw. Very appreciated!

AttyPops is talking about a different type of atomizer. I think you are working with something like this...

Which you do not need filler material to wick and they aren't useable for dripping.

AttyPops is talking about something like this....
image.jpg

Which used to require a plastic cart to fit over top that was filled with a wicking material and e liquid. The second picture shows a dripping atty that allows you to drip directly and vape for a few pulls when flavor drops drip more and repeat.
