Probably too simple a question, but.....

.....lets give it a go....

New forum user (UK based) so big hi to everyone!
I've been vaping for nearly ten years now and make my own juice (need a change of recipe though as it's making my mouth 'sting' nowadays) but I'm far from expert!

My question is, due to cost and unreliability of commercial coils, I want to start making my own.....this is where I need your help if you'd be so kind.

I vape at a low 10 watts, 0.8ohms MTL using a Voopoo DragX. It's been pretty good but hate the way the tank (magnetic) is soooo keen to just drop off at the slightest excuse!

1> Is vaping at such a low wattage (and at 0.8ohms) viable in regards to making my own coils??
2 > If so what do I need in terms of wire (keeping it as simple as possible) and cotton (shoestring?)......seen coil making tool kits on Amazon (ceramic tweezers etc) I could purchase of those.
3> And the BIG question.....what would be a suitable (reasonably cost effective) 'buildable' platform with adjustable airflow??? (I have a few flathead 'Efest' 3000 mAh 35A 3.7V batteries I use in the DragX)

Many, many thanks for any advice or help offered. This really is a minefield for a complete newbie to try and navigate! :)
Cheers
Bob

Hi Bob. Welcome to the ECF.

1) I've made a ton of 0.8 Ohm or so Coils over the years. So No problem there.

2) I always liked this kind of winding tool. Makes even working with Very Thin wire easy.

Kuro Coiling Tool Kit ~ Buy Online | Free Shipping (I don't know if this company is good or bad. Link is just for Information. )

For Wire, 28ga Stainless Steel for a 3mm ID Coil wouldn't be a bad place to start. Don't get tooo hung up on matching numbers Exactly. Just make a coil as close to 0.8 Ohms and the adjust your wattage to taste.

For Cotton, I think starting with Pad Cotton is the Easiest when your new to all this. And for Pad Cotton, Muji is the King. LOL

Just type in "Muji Pad Cotton" into Amazon UK and you get people who ship to/in the UK

3) That one would be Hard for me to Answer. Because I am BIG Time Old School. And am Very OOT with rebuildable atomizers. I think the last RTA I bought was an OFRF / Wotofo GEAR RTA.

Maybe someone else can chime in with a Less Ancient suggestion. LOL

The rest.....I'll take onboard your advice

Thanks again

No problem Bob.

RTA and building your own Coils takes a little Trial and Error. But will save you a Ton of Money over Coil Heads.
