Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me...

Using a Hornet rba with my REO Grand. String up some 30 gauge wire and screw it to the rba and it tests at 1.2 Ohms.

I plug it into my ego just to do a dry burn, and ego does not turn on. I assume this is due to a short somewhere but I can't find anything wrong with my atomizer coil.

Pull everything and start over 2 more times with new wire and cotton and same thing. Reads Ohms at around 1.2 but the ego cannot do a dry burn.

I'm hesitant to place it on my REO in this condition as I don't want to blow a spring.

Can anyone explain to me why I'm reading 1.2 Ohms consistently but I seem to be shorting my ego battery? Is my ego just not strong enough to dry burn a 1.2 ohm atty? Is there something wrong with my hornet rba?

Thanks for helping this hopeless lurker...

........nevermind....need to start over. I misread your post. Like Northernshrink says, if the new coil ohms in at 1.2 consistently, it should be fine to put on the REO. I use much lower ohms on my Grand lots of times. Not sure about the eGo.....but I know that the mfg. recommendation is to not use LR attys/cartos with an eGo because it'll damage the battery. Makes sense that the eGo wouldn't be able to handle a 1.2 ohm atty.

Don't worry about it not firing on an ego. It won't. I use my ego to screw on my hornet and pull the cap off so I don't damage my REO as sometimes the Hornet caps are tough to pull off. When I screw in the Hornet the ego will not fire as it's too low of an ohm reading. I use 5 wraps of 30g wire @ 1.34 ohms and is fine on the reo. You should get your sel a ohm meter @ RTD vapors for $20.00. It's a MUST have for RBA users! :)
