Good morning everyone,

I just wanted to get your thoughts on what can be wrong with my batteries. I have 4 AW IMR18490 3.7v 1100 mAh and they all have the same problem. It looks like some type of corrosion is forming on the button of every battery (hopefully you can see it in the below picture). It does not seem to have any effect on the battery's performance but I stopped using all the batteries nonetheless.

Any idea what this is and what's causing it? Thanks for your input.

Your picture is not too clear. Having said that, I have a Reo Grand so I know that each time you hit the button a small spark happens between the positive end of the battery and the switch. That spark erodes the battery surface. Every couple of months I give the tops of my batteries a very gentle swipe with 1000 grit sandpaper to clean it slightly. It does not seem to change the conductivity of the batteries.

Good luck with it :)
