Being honest and responsible is not selfish when it comes to your family.

Blind faith in others is straight up foolish.
I said sometimes... :) I never referred to responsibilities or honesty... There is nothing selfish about that at all, I meant it more in the sense of sometimes we need to look out for number one. I've been let down a lot, however honesty & manners cost nothing and the way people grow up now they don't know the meaning of respect!

I have to admit, aside from the vaping videos, the good mythical morning guys are kind of entertaining.
That they may be but I lost all interest and respect after an ecf member, Qorax, posted an eloquent comment to the video debunking all the points they made, including links to supporting research, and it was deleted or hidden. Then they hit the creator of another response video, OhmBoy Josh, with a copyright infringement suit. Not cool. Not cool at all. In this video Qorax addresses them.

Respect confused with courtesy these days.
You can expect, even demand courtesy.
Everyone should be courteous.

But respect is different than courtesy.

Never ask for, expect or demand respect.
You will never get it.

The only way to get real respect is to earn it.

Listening is a learned skill, not an inherited one. I see a society too busy to spend the effort it takes in acquiring that skill. Hey, its much easier to plop a kid in front of a tv with a tv dinner, right? Too bad that most parents these days are just those same kids. We see the results of those left to fend for themselves in the news everyday..:(

I did not have benefit of family teaching me anything other than how to stay out of their way. Be thankful and grateful that you have people that allow you a voice, even if their only way of saying it sounds like 'my house, my rules'. It shows they care enough about you to give a damn.

:)
First thing I'd like to mention is i love my parents more than anything in the world but I'm not one of those kids who would listen to them if I know for a fact that they're wrong about something, they're human too and they can be wrong or misjudge some situations but then they learn, like we all do with time and experience. I know "wrong" can have different meanings for different people, and in no way am i disrespecting them by telling them that they're wrong... and I'm sure they feel good to know that they have a son who'll not watch something wrong happen in front of him and WILL stand up to speak against it.

You're right and I'm very grateful to have them but caring for someone means correcting them when you know they're being adamant about some little thing that you know is wrong(all humans are at some point)... If i don't look out for them in these situations then who will?(just a way of speaking)

I don't believe there is right or wrong in anything cos people do things differently and you shouldn't worry so much about offending people. Things have gone too far, you can get accused of being racist when really you are just trying to figure out culture. I'm not a big fan of religion and I get shot down purely cos I believe science has the last word an modern evidence that can be proved. Too some people they could think I'm wrong so you see what I mean bout right an wrong??
People do things Differently And its all about the way receptors In our brain are programmed to make us think in different ways. People who think they are right all the time are just creatures of arrogance!
I completely agree with you on this one. The same religion thing happens with me all the time, especially being from a religious country like India, people seem to hate(lack of a better word) people who don't believe in religion. I've had so many people preach me and make me in "god" but my faith stands strong with science. :)
Ps - Not afraid to state my views in this message as you suggested :p
Let the haters hate, potatoes will still potate.

I'm glad you can be honest and open about your views, don't let anyone force such a fake act of life on you. I think religion is fake. We should start a science thread :)

That's called gambling.
I dont do that with my family.

I've lived all over this wide world and am approaching a half century on this planet.
People are not inherently good.
They may have the potential to BE good, but blindly trusting people is a dangerous proposition at can get you killed or worse. Yes worse.
It might be gambling and I know i'm bound to loose but it feels so good when i trust someone and it pays out.
I don't trust BLINDLY, but i don't hold back. Sometimes one person might just need one person to believe in them and they might right their wrongs,or atleast set out on that path.
I don't have a family to take care of and provide for and i might change my beliefs in the future when/if i do.
I respect and appreciate you trying to look out for me (in a way) but I don't wanna not trust people just because someone else says they are "bad".
Hope you catch my drift.
Cheers :)

I wasn't giving advice.
I was relating a personal observation based on 50 years of experience.
Take it for what it is ...or leave it.
