Problem with my Kanger RBA mini

Hi guys, I've just switched over from my 0.5 occ coils to the rba and I'm experiencing some problems. The juice I'm trying to vape now is Cuttwood's Bird Brains at 6mg
1)Constant dry hits, even after letting the juice sit in my tank as I slept over the night
2)no flavor at all. I've read spectacular reviews on bird brains online and I had very high expectations for it.
3)no matter what wattage I vape at, it's still the same. Dry hits. No flavor

Help me please ):

Did you dry fire and see if there's any shorts/hot spots? And how is the wick condition? A lot of dry hits issue mostly caused by wicking

What do you mean shorts, hot spots? Please advice how to perform a dry fire hahaha. Wicking issue probably means my wick is too thick?

basically to dry fire is to fire up the coil(without wicking) till it turns red hot to check for any uneven glowing/whether the connecting legs are glowing. Wicking is quite the art where a balance needs to be found, what I do on my rba plus is to cut roughly 2x ID coil of wick then thread them in and cut on the inner edge . Also this video is more applicable on kanthal wires however wicking wise i prefer the top video(taking note the newer rba is push down top barrel not screw on).

also do check out how to clean gunk off kanthal (extend the life of the coil for a little bit) although kanthal is cheap XD

Probably too much cotton. If you can't get it down with cotton, you could try rayon. Rayon will soak up more liquid then the cotton and is more forgiving if a bit too much is used.

Hi guys, an update. Ive been working on wicking my RBA for the past hour and I'm still getting .... hits man. all that changed when i just reused my 0.5 occ. immediately taste the flavour. really need to up my rebuilding game hahaha

because bird's brain is 40pg/60vg which makes it a slightly thicker liquid, it might also have an impact on your wicking (you might need to try doing a bigger ID coil like 3mm and see if it helps) personally have yet try my unicorn's milk on my tank so I can't really comment on higher vg juices in it yet but 50/50 usually works perfect.

Your wick is still too thick. Usually I only cut off around 3-5mm width. Its quite thin.

Are you using closed or spaced coils? Spaced coils wick better. And which rba deck are you using? The screw-down one ore the new one with the big juice holes? They require different wicking methods. Pics of your build could help us find the problem

When you say spaced coils, do you mean you don't compress them? I'm using the new rba with bigger holes. Will try again tonight and seek more advise if I fail. Lol

Is it a V1 RBA or V2? V2 is much more forgiving on wicking. With the V1 you have to pretty much get it just right. Basically with the V1 you wanna make sure the juice channels are clear, the wick just touches the deck and the tails thinned.

For the new RBA section, the wicking should be good. There are two issues you should be facing - Your wick is too thick and the ends of the wick are sticking out of the juice holes too much and suffocating the juice holes. Try to trim your wick ends so they lie flushed with the juice holes.

Success!!!! Managed a spaced out .7 ohm coil with sheseido cotton. Then suddenly after a good twenty vapes running from 10 watts to 35 watts, the ohm reading jumped to 6-7. Opened it up, ran my pliars through the coil a few times and back down to .7.

Now stable and can vape upwards till 35 watts for a full warm and flavorful experience.

Good stuff. May I know where did you get your shiseido cotton? Its actually easier to get koh gen do cotton here than shiseido/muji cotton for reasons idk why lol. (Just want to test if there's any significant difference although I probably have enough cotton for at least a year lol)

Lol! Didn't know that. I went down to a BHG and spoke with the counter girl. She pulled out a pack hidden away in a drawer and told me that this is the last pack. She also said its a very hot item and that my face will never feel the same after!!!

Obviously I didn't tell her this was for vaping.
