Hello all,
I have been vaping since July 1st, 2011 with the same e-cig that was suggested to me by a friend. I have the Riva 1100 and at first it was amazing! In the last few weeks my vaping experience is becoming more of a chore than anything else. The main problem seems to be my atomizers. I use the e-cig moderately throughout the whole day and every evening I clean out the atty by blowing from the threaded end, and every 2 days I thoroughly clean them with alcohol and distilled water and let them dry a day or so. No matter how much I clean them, in about 3 days of use they almost feel like they get more and more "clogged" and the vaping gets very weak. At the end of the three days the atty's usually just die altogether. I have gone through 10 atty's in the last 3 weeks. Any suggestions on how to make them last longer? If not, is there a better e-cig I can invest in to help solve the problem? If it matters, I use liquid from TastyVapor.com (not sure if there is liquids that should not be used).

I hope you realize that it is not your Riva (i.e., battery) that is the problem but whatever atomizers you are using on it. There really is no such thing as a "Riva 1100 atomizer" ... just whatever 510 attys that were sold with it or that you've purchased since.

What proportion of VG do you use? Too much can clog the atomizer. Coincidentally, I was speaking with CyberWolf about this yesterday. He was complaining about the 50/50 mix that he received from a supplier. For use with atomizers, he prefers an 80/20 PG/VG mix. [Having some VG in the mix does improve vapor production.] Cartomizers, however, are less prone to clogging with VG.

For that and many other reasons (e.g., less frequent refilling), I prefer cartos. As you may know, any 510 (or 306 or eGo) cartomizer will work on the Riva. IMO, some of the best are the Boge 2.0, Smok Tech Mega Dual Coil, and Smok Tech 1.7 Mega Single Coil. You can get the first two from a great many suppliers. I get my 1.7 ohm single coils from SmokTek or Crystal Clear Vaping.
