Problems with Ego-T Upgrade batteries, need assistance?

So I use a passthrough Tornado C most of the time, but I have two ego T upgrade batteries in my carrying case on back up. Well today I went to use one, and (I use mini nova tanks) it tasted burnt and then the light on the battery flashed a few times. I just charged it so I dont know what to make of this. So I used my other back up, same thing.........tasted burnt and even got warm. I heard the little metal pads on the inside of the battery, or pins, need to be pushed back in or pulled out depending on the situation. They both cant be bad, I just bought one last weekend, and the other one is 2 weeks old. Any tips or suggestions, how do I push the pin back like everyone says? What does the 3 blinks of the light mean?

Same tank? Could be the pin on the tank, not just the pin on the batteries. 3 blinks is a short. Have a lot of juice in the battery head? Use a q-tip to clean in out..

They are genuine and both have chargers from Joytech.

Now they seem to work okay. I pushed the pins down on both batteries and the tanks I use, cleaned the pins really good. They taste creamy vanilla again with a lot of vape. Thanks guys!!! I hope this was it. Will the short effect the battery in the long term, or was it just surge protection?
