Hello fellow vapers! long time no see! And a Happy B-day to me!:sleep:

Well, I have been working here in Ludlow Vermont at Okemo Mountain Resort as a Lift Operator, and I have noticed one small problem with the Joye 510 mini, which I believe would also be a problem with most 3-piece models.

In cold weather conditions, the cartridges seem to come loose inside the attys, and will actually fall out if you are not careful!

I believe this is due to the cold causing the cartridge to actually contract, thus becoming smaller, and no longer fitting snugly in the atty, and can be a serious issue if you are ever holding your PV in your teeth by the cart, (or in your fingers) I can tell you that I am glad I didnt get a white one, or else I never would have found it in the snow!!!8-o

Oh, and if you ski or ride, and you are ever at Okemo, ask a lifty where "that weird guy with that newfangled electric cigarette" is!

I've been outside quite a bit with my Joye 510 in 20-30 degree weather (not for a whole work shift, but for a couple of hours). I find that the atty keeps everything nice and warm (including my hands) and I haven't had the problems you're relating. Are you not hitting it very often or holding it in your hands? I would think that those two things would keep the unit pretty warm. I'll remember what you said though if I ever have to stick it in my pocket or put it down out in the cold for an extended period. I was looking forward to vaping outside in the cold because I always felt the unit was toasty a lot and I was right:evil:

Well, when I talk about cold conditions, first of all, up here, we think of cold as being, Ahem* Below ZERO! and, I am still unable to vape in front of the guests here on the mountain, as it looks like smoking, so its in my pocket most of the time, however, I have gotten used to leaving it in the lift shack, (you know, that little outhouse looking thing next to the lifts?) where there is heat, and when I get a chance, I go into the shack and vape.

In "warm" conditions, which we consider to be 20 degrees and up, I do not have this problem, OH1 and I also noticed a considerable increase in TH and Vapor Production in cold weather!!

I guess from the other posts, you and I are the only ones with this problem. It doesn't have to be very cold for it to happen to me. Lows in the 30's and my cart gets really loose. I thought maybe it was the atty expanding more than the cart due to atty heat. I was out the other morning and had my box mod in my hand on my morning walk. I could feel that the cart was slightly loose. I went to take a hit and the cart had fallen out. Also a lot of times when I am walking on a cold morning I take a hit and the cart will stick to my lip just enough to pull out of the atty. The same carts are fine in my car or house. Seems to be a problem after 30 minutes or so in the cold. A really tight cart/atty will not do that but most do and only cause trouble in the cold.

I don't know if extreme cold would effect the cart fitting snug, but it's certainly plausible. I do know that after using a pv for a while, if some juice gets into the cart (which is pretty unavoidable), it can act like a lubricant, causing the cart to slide out really easily.

Here's a link on how to tighten up loose carts. Works VERY well.

This is a simple way to fix the loose cart problem. Since it is only happening in cold conditions I would suggest just using a bit of clear tape on it with a small tap folded over for easy removal. I would also suggest a PT with a good power pack and keep the power pack near your body to keep it warm. Batteries do not like to function in cold conditions and a PT with solve this issue.
