Prodigy @ 3.7v with 18650 batt?

Steve/Casey:

I have a Prodigy V1 with the original switch shipped for vaping at 5v. Can I vape @ 3.7v by simply swapping out the 2 3v CR2s with an 18650 batt? If not, then what do I need to do change to 3.7v on the V1?

I have the V1 too and being that you have the switch with the resistor (5v) you won't be able to vape at 3.7 volts. The resistor will reduce the voltage going to the atomizer regardless of battery configuration. Thus, you'd have to either buy a resistor-less (3.7v/6v) switch or remove the grey resistor in your switch and reconnect the lose wires by resoldering.

Simply put: no, you won't be able to.

Steve/Casey: how can I lay hands on a resistor-less 3.7v switch for the V1?

They no longer make the original switches for the V1's.
You can change it to the mechanical switch which works well in mine (3.7v only).

Or, if you want to stay with the originals, I have one of each (Resistored and non resistored) I could part ways with. Also have an extra 510 and 801 adapter.. Let me know...

The original tact switch is still available for 1.99 on the sale/clearance items page:

You'll need to solder it yourself.

They also sell the resistor for .99 if you wanted another tact switch for 5v vaping.

I'm pretty sure the mechanical switch is out of stock and they don't plan to make any more of them. I had kinda hoped they would keep them around for a while in case I ever decided I needed one, but...

so yes they are. sorry. I could tell immediately the mech switches were out of stock from the lack of drop-down options. but it looked like the tact switches were available until I actually clicked Add to Cart.

Yeah, and I hate that. I've been known many times to buy parts for things I've had for 7-8 years. What good is user-serviceable if you can't find the parts?

This sounds pretty troubling. I've haven't heard from Steve/Casey about this, though, so it would be premature to jump to conclusions yet about their long-term service.

Unfortunately we're out of the V1 mechanical switches, and we do not plan on making anymore. The V1 has been discontinued since September, and we've still got replacement tact switches, resistors, and adapters left. You're more than welcome to shoot in your current tact switch so we can remove the resistor and turn it into the 3.7/6v option under our "Outside of Warranty" service terms. I'm sorry for the trouble!

It's great to hear that from Casey and I certainly hope they keep the out-of-warranty deal, but tescela, if I were you I might seriously consider Brock's offer. If PS changes your switch, then you can't do 5V anymore (I know, a no-brainer).
