Hi millison and welcome to ECF!

As Rixsta said, Settings at the top of the page is where you want to start.

Avatars are what people see when you post in the threads, profile pictures are what people see when they visit your profile page.

At the very top of the page you will find 'Settings'. Click on that and it will bring you to the page where you can personalize stuff.
List on the left will have 'Edit Avatar'. Choose your avatar from your computer and make sure you 'Save Changes'
