Every attempt to isolate a cause to explain the war on vaping faces its difficulties, as no cause is entirely defective in explanation, yet neither is any satisfyingly sufficient to explain the level of hysteria engulfing the nation. Clues are best found by examining similar phenomenon and terrifyingly, there’s no better example than the decades-long battle in the “War on Drugs.”

Anybody that hasn't taken the time to watch this interview really should. I think Ethan Nadelmann could be a real benefit to our cause. Rolling Stone magazine called him "The driving force for the legalization of marijuana in America." Now he says that he's focused on the fight over ecigs.

Yeah, I liked a lot of what he said on the RegWatch show. It was too difficult to sit through because the sound levels were so disparate between the two so I skimmed it. He has a pretty sane view of the state of things regarding the US's policy regarding prohibitions and how these things came about, and how things were historically so much different. It is scary how people and society have been destroyed incrementally by bad policies that are virtually unenforceable on a societal level.

I finally watched the whole episode. As much time and effort as I dedicated to getting out of the other drug wars over the years, it looks like I'm part of the new drug war on Nicotine. I'm seriously hating on Nixon right now.
