I'm finding that I have to keep my wattage way down on my Protank 2's with my MVP while using Kanger coils. I have tried Universal coils but do not like the taste. It's weird because I can use my Kanger T3S or Mini Protank 2's up to 9.5 watts with some juice. Is this a common thing?

well for starters both the t3s and the miniprotanks are eGo threaded which means clearer airflow.
The regular protank uses the common cigalike size 510 thread and if you look at how the air has to flow it's almost a miracle

They have a pretty airy hit which is a surprise. I have thought about getting Airflow bases for my two PT2's to see if that will help. The TS3's have tiny little holes for air but I can burn them much higher.

No. That's what I thought, and it failed.
However, a handmade coil in a mini PT2 using an AFC is an epic tank! :)

Yeah they don't last long, I recently bought a clone and made a rebuildable atomizer/drip trip with my local Vape Shop but before I was using an Itaste MVP2 Mod and a Protank Mini (2 or 3?) as well as a Kangertech Aerotank --> THE coils don't last long! You may also have gotten a bad batch of the coils because they are mass manufactured in China and shipped over and those companies strictly don't care as much as you'd think.

You're best bet would be going with lighter liquids (avoiding darker liquids/cinnamon based flavors; as these will eat up your coil's wick so fast). Try it out, turn the Watts to 9.5 and run it around 3.8 Voltage --> and make sure you saturate the coils by pulsing the tank a few times before you take any drags (you probably already do). Reason I say this is I forgot to pulse and took one drag after replacing the coil and the rest of my hits were all burned, got no flavor. So if you do it by mistake, you'll .... the coil up ;/.

Good to know. I think I'll just keep them as is and put the cash towards my first RBA.

See if your neighboring areas has a local vape shop! I bought a replica clone mod which came with batterys, a cloud chaser drip tip, 3 part component mod (in brass/different sizes), and an atomizer for around $160 I believe. And I bought some juice on top putting my total at $183. Definitely an investment, but I have not regret moving from a tank to a drip tip style vape.
