does the tank say KangerTech Protank on the metal base, below the glass tube? The drip tip is definitely not native to the tank but it is removable so maybe you added your own tip?
Authentic Kanger coils will have the ohm marked
All I know is, if this is a genuine Kanger, the coils you buy from a reputable dealer should be working fine IMO

Lolli is right. Kanger Tech ProTank 2 is etched into the metal base.

I have the ProTank 2 and Mini ProTank 2 and all of them work great with Kanger replacement coils. You might want to check with the vendor as to what he sold you.

If that drip tip in picture came with it then it's not a Kanger.

New guy here so take what I say with a grain of salt. It looks like the same one I bought. Except the drip tip. My box says Protank clear atomizer CE RoHS . No writing on the tank, body or coil. Made in China. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately you have a clone. However it could work fine.

Ditto on 2 points:
a) Haven't seen the flat-sided one, and I have all Kanger coils.
b) I almost always remove ONE of the flavor wicks from a new ProTank coil right away. Just pop that tube off, use a tweezer to remove one of the strands, then put the tube and little cup back on. It lets enough juice in to "keep up" but there's still enough there to prevent flooding. Make a BIG difference in the performance for me...

I do, though, also prefer lower resistance - I buy the 1.8's (and they almost always are actually are 2.0).

I'm not sure that authentic Kanger coils will work in a fake ProTank. They might, but they might not. Something to watch out for.

i had a genuine protank II and liked it so i took a chance and bought 3 clones from fasttech and they work just as good as the original with the exception of the coils. the knockoff coils have a shorter tube than kanger coils. i rebuild them so to me being a knockoff doesn`t matter. i have never seen the flat sided tube on the ones i got.

edit to add: yes the knockoff and original coils are interchangeable.

Whether the coil is a "fake" or not, the coil itself should still heat the same, give or take some resistance difference depending on the ohms. When I bought my first Protank 2, I also bought a 5-pack of 2.8 ohm coils from the B&M store, and besides saying "Protank Coils" on them, there was nothing indicating the were Kanger or an official product. The silica in them worked good for a couple of days, but i then decided to pull out the stock wick, and just rolled up some cotton and maneuvered it in the coils, clipped the edges, added the silica flavor wicks back on top, and the coils were giving off good flavor (after an initial break-in period) and lasting me 5-7 days, then I replaced it with more cotton.

Try that!

The Kanger Protank was one of the first glass tanks, so soon enough manufacturers started making compatible "Protank" or "Protank Style" tanks .

The Kanger Protanks have the KangerTech logo on the logo, and the coils come in 5-packs plastic and foil packageing link how drug capsules are packaged; the box is black and says "Coil Unit for Protank & EVOD" and has 4 check boxes to indicate what ohm coils are in the box
