I've been vaping like a fiend with my ProTank, and loving it quite a bit, but I find that I have to change coils rather too often-- like once every two days, in order to keep it producing a worthwhile quantity of vapor.

I've tried soaking the used coils in grain alcohol, then allowing them to air dry, but it only seems to help a little.

I'm running the tank with 2.5 ohm coils and (alternately) 3.0 and 3.6 volts on a step-volt passthrough.

Would white vinegar give me better results?

What is the most tried and true method of keeping these coils alive without major reconstruction?

What kind of stuff are you running in the tank?

Open up the heads, remove the flavor wicks and dry burn the coil/main wick till its clean/white and degunked, then if you dont have any replacements, just put back in the old flavor wicks after rinsing, you should regain a good portion of the original performance.

If youre not familiar with how to open the heads/dry burn, just ask and someone will explain/link the relevant information

Do your self a Giant favor... and learn to rebuild them. for 20 - 30 bucks you won't have to buy a pre-made head for 2 years. Ive got about 10 in rotation... every weekend I rebuild the units that are roached (usually 4 or 5) It's just worth it to me to have a constant fresh vape.
On occasion I will dry burn a particularly good coil... but only once.

This video gives ya a step by step of how to disassemble and dry burn an EVOD head, which is identical to a protank head but with a slightly shorter removable shaft.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDRlInNt05Y

If you follow these instructions you should get a decent amount of the performance back out of your old heads.

As mentioned above, if youre serious about it, may be a good time to start learning how to rebuild/wrap coils, so you can really dial in your setups/resistances/wicking mechanisms etc.

As Ponkaw said it wouldn't hurt to learn to rebuild them, kind of looks like you like the sweet stuff and yes that will take out heads quickly I rebuild with hollow 2mm Ecowool and 32ga a1 wire and no flavor wicks 5 wraps with the wire gives me 2.2 or 2.3 every time check youtube for vids or pm me if you try it and I'll talk you through the process

If you can thread a needle you can rebuild the atomizer head. All that is needed is the kanthal wire, cotton balls an 1/16 Allen wrench and nail clippers. Search you tube, learn and problem solved. It is that easy.
