It amazes me how something works so good for one person and the next one doesn't like it at all. It is that way with every device out there. I've been vaping 3 1/2 years and have seen it time after time. I personally like the Protank right out of the box better than anything else I've tried. I like the easy draw and I've never had any leaking issues or dry vapes. The only way you can find out if it will work for you is to try it yourself.:)

It's not that I don't like it man, it doesn't work. There is no way your getting the taste and flavor and performance I am. Has nothing to do with not liking anything. Unless you have literally been vaping burning tire flavor for the last 3.5 years you can't like the product I received. Has nothing to do with not liking it. As a matter of fact I want to like it so bad!! It looks so bad .... Just can't get it to function properly as advertised. All they did is wrap a glass tank on a T3 and call it a pro tank. T3's all they did is burn and wouldn't wick. Same situation here.

Ok, so now after reading your posts, my blood is starting to boil over my frustrations with the protank. I figured I'd just put them aside (yes, I bought 2 ) & fiddle with them another time. But ya know, we paid $19 or so a piece for these poor quality tanks and if nothing else, our experiences are important to announce, so here goes....
One of the two that I purchased arrived all plastic sealed up around a leather-like case, nothing tampered with or mishandled, & yet upon opening, I wonder how the *** this passed inspection, assuming they even glance at these as their boxed. I guess I must be the one & only one who gets one with the chrome like finish chipped off at the mouthpiece and copper tone color showing. Some black sticky crap on the tank (not a big deal-just added to my "..." opening the box moment). Called the vendor I purchased them from, sent pictures, long story short, no problem, they send me a replacement for the glass tank part right away. So, I screw the new tank onto the base from the original boxed set and it's not screwing on right, seems like it hits a bump of some kind at every half turn or so, all way till it's snug. Here comes another "... moment" but I figure whatever just deal with it. Well that's the least of my concerns as #1. IT LEAKS-Here I am vaping along paying careful attention not to crack a tooth out (I hate metal tips-what I was I even thinking when I ordered these?) and vapor diminishes, starting to hear some gurgling and yup, right into the mouth, FANTASTIC. Yeah I wasted a few ml's on several attempts on both tanks. I have also had an ever so subtle amt of juice on the outside of the glass, no visable cracks and yet something is not quite up to par with the seal. And no, I don't lay the tank on it's side, not ever. Airy draw is not a problem for me, it doesn't bother me. Poor, very poor quality and major leaking is a problem. This is my 1st run with Kanger tanks so I don't have other parts to exchange with, NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO. The tank should work properly with what it has.

Is yours vaping? Are you getting any flavor from the juice? Are getting that nice clean burning tire flavor? Check for burrs on the threads in regards to the leaking. The sharp edges may have cut your o-ring inside the base. Check it see if its cut or torn. I know how you feel. This tank is a nightmare. They clearly have a serious. quality control issue. Vendor is giving me 2 free heads which I am already convinced wont change anything. I am really hoping they do. Maybe my heads were bad from the factory.
I know one thing for sure, I will never spend a dime on a kanger product again. Finally had a smile tonight Threw on my vivi, filled it and man it was nice to see vapor that smelled and tasted like coquito instead of Burning Goodyears.

Ok I'm pretty new with the current hardware, but I dived in head first. I bought a sample protank and liked it, then ordered 3 more for ready to use flavor changes. I also bought a MT3 to test with.
A couple of things I've noted so far...
Depends on my mix. The 90/10 seems to work pretty well, but as you would expect it starts to gurgle after 20-30 hits so I just wick it out with a q-tip and keep going. Now that is using my provari. I also bought a Sigelei Mini and I find the draw on the sigelei with a protank is MUCH more airy. The MT3 on the Sigelei rocks, but the damn base came unscrewed on me twice and it's down inside so you have no choice but to unscrew it, clean up the mess and then remove the base and head with a pair of pliers.
If I am using 70/30 in the protank, the gurgling goes away but it starts burning if I don't slow down and let the wick catch up. I tried taking out the extra top wick as some have suggested and I get almost instant gurgling and leaking.... NOT ok, so I put it back.
the MT3 doesn't fit on the provari so I can't try it out, wish I could. I bought a total of 4 protanks based on my initial trial, now I wish I hadn't. The MT3 is working much better for me, no burning taste. If I ever find an adapter, I will prob retire the protanks and call it a loss. For now, I can tell you that drawing on the protank slowly will all but eliminate the burnt taste, you have to go easy on it. It won't do well with chain vaping.
I don't have any supplies yet, but I intend to try rebuilding the heads with a few diff size wicks and see if things improve before I write off hte protank. I think it can be made to work well, and if I have to put in the extra effort, it's worth having the pyrex glass tanks and no leaking.

I can't say that I got the burning tire taste, although I also can't say I got a clean flavor taste either, some have referred to a metal sort of taste & that might be what I've tasted. I'll take a good look at the ring and see if anything is torn but 2 tanks, both leak, one looks like it was a test model for durability that failed and somehow got boxed up for retail anyhow. Maybe it's just really poor inconsistent manufacturing, Idk. I agree, my mini vivi nova is back on the job till something gets worked out with the protank or maybe Vision will start making the glass tanks...hmm.

What voltage or wattage are you vaping at and I presume you have tried different heads? They are basically the same as the T-3's and Evods and I've had good luck with those as well.

2.6ohms at 3,4,5,6,7,8,9watts tried it all. 9 is high. Actually tried dry burning like someone suggested. Definitely made 100 times worse. Never had a device that when dry burned ended up burning the wick. Never seen that before, that's new. Every other device I have dry burned never burned the wick, and yes i know how to dry burn well, not new at this.So the head is now officially toast.

ok, so a quick update on my rant on the protank. i have received the two new heads from my vendor who sold me the original protank. they are marked as 2.2ohms and come out measured to 2.0 which is nice because i can use it on my ego now. screwed it on, and worked better but was still a tad burnt. pulled out one wick and its working very well. so it turns out quality control was the issue for the first two wicks. i do have wick building materials on route from okcvapes so i can rebuild to my desired specs. but i was right and it was a quality control issue. i knew it had to be, because there was no way its working amazing for some people and crap for others. so if your having trouble with the stock heads and not really wanting to rebuild them, try the LR heads they seem to be built a little better then the ones that come with the protank which were rated for 2.5ohms and measured out for me at 2.6ohm.

thanks all for the help.

i rebuild all my own burners for the protank and this morning i decided id build a few and play around. i took a length of 3MM wich and folded it over and wrapped it 6 times with 32 kanthal, efectively eliminating the top laid wicks and increasing the surface area a little bit on the burner. trimmed them leaving them a little longer than the stock wicks and installed. no leaking, very smooth draw and TONS of vape. much MUCH more than the stock heads, with ZERO bleed (leakage). put two tanks thru it and sofar no problem at all. build another the same way for the wife and she was like 'DAMN, really?!"....ill be rebuilding a bunch more later this evening and ill try to get a bunch of pix and post them. i tried the same thing with a vivi nova burner i had laying around and same thing. increased vapor like a mad dog. with no leakage into the tube. one of the ones i did for the protank turned out to be 1.9 and the other 2.0 ohms.

i figured it out and it pretty much costs me around 8 cents a head to rebuild them. ive also got an email into Kangertech to see if i can buy the rubber parts in bulk to do complete refurb on all my burners
...WEEEEEE!...WE WE WEEEEEEEEEEE!......

going to maybe get on this evening and buy myself a new cobra tank also just to play with...

That is the method that I think I will try first, just makes sense to me, but aren't the top wicks supposed to plug up those 2 holes, or slow down the juice flowing into them?

yea, but if you use the 3mm wick doubled and then wrapped, no bleed at all into the tube and you can forego the top laid wicks.. we have been using the ones i did all day and no issues whatsoever. if you havent rebuild a head yet, its super simple and only takes a couple min. i use an 18ga injection needle as a backer to the wick while im wrapping. keeps everything nice and straight and even.

ill be rebuilding some more here maybe later this evening or tomorrow and ill post a step by step with pix. biggest thing to remember is to make sure you trim the legs on your kanthal wire close as if you dont they will give you a dead short.

I'm about to buy a pro tank. I've been vaping about weeks and have been using a KGO with a stardust. I realized very quicker that I was going to be a vape geek. All my android devices are rooted with custom kernels, all my desktops are over clocked and dual booting chrome OS and win 7, why should my vaping follow a different course? I like modding things. I decided my first upgrade would be the tank, to the kanger protank. The mod/power system will be next, something 18650, currently leaning toward vamo in the way of chipped mods and ikarus in the way of hybrids. I love that carbon fiber bottom tube for the ikarus. Keep calm and vape

when my wick and wire come in i am going to try this method first. did you find overlaying the wick help tighten the draw at all?

There is 3 holes around the base plug one or 2 you'll have a tight draw. Break the tip off a toothpick enough to force it in and break it off to try it - tight draw.. But you may flood it if you pull too hard.

Kanger bccs are excellent if you can work out all the Kinks. I used one t3 and one head for 5 months, rebuilt every week or 2. When I first got it it was crap but after I figured it all out; it was tops.

I had to come back and add to this thread.
After using the Protanks for a couple of weeks and getting more discouraged with the burning taste and the nasty burning in my throat, I was about ready to call it a loss and write them off. Keep in mind, I've been using the heads that came in the kits (it comes with 2 when you buy the box kit).

So today I decided to pull out the heads that I know were still "good" and replace them with some out of the blister packs that I bought as spares.

Viola! Megga-vapor clouds, excellent flavor, no gurgling...
And just to note... the heads that came in the kits all measured between 2.2 and 2.5 ohms. The ones in the blister packs are measuring around 1.7-1.8. Man it's a huge difference. I may have to take back the negative comments I made about them and just wonder why they are packaging crappy heads with the brand new units. Don't get me wrong, it's not flavor like dripping in a 501 or something, but it's getting close.. it really tastes that good now.

Well I don't know what else to say. I have tried both heads it came with. Is it at All possible that kanger is having a massive quality control issue? How can some rave about some just doesn't work? I mean there is nothing me or anyone else is doing differently then the people raving about it. I am convinced its a quality control problem.

Yeah most def quality issue, just look at some of the t3 threads when it came out. Although it seems they have improved qa but have no doubt there is good and bad. For the most part they can be fixed if you know how. When I got my t3 I thought it was junk leaked everywhere horrid taste. But I fixed the issues and its still going strong 6 months later with the original head. Only way to get a consistent coil is to learn to do it yourself. .. Well at least you can redo it if you mess it up . Lol
