Protank with ego vv question ??

running a protank with 1.8 ohm head/coil with a ego vv.

what would be the recomended voltage ??

on another note i love these protanks. was getting a muted flavor this morning and had to put my surgeons gloves on and remove a flavor wick. hard to beat the options and modifications you can do to these tanks. seems the flavor was muted when i refilled it with a darker and thicker juice.

It comes down to personal taste. Personally, I would vape that @ around 4-4.5V

Grats Smith! Just play with the voltage until you zero in on your personal preferance. If it tastes a bit burnt, turn it down

With a 1.8 ohm coil, running at 4 volts, you'll be burning 8.88 watts at 4.5 volts it would be 11.25 watts. I usually start a new coil out at 2+ the ohm rating. So I would start a new 1.8 ohm coil at 3.8 volts and adjust from there for taste, heat and quality of vape. After a day or so vaping on the coil, they will tend to become more resistant by about .2 ohms. Your 1.8 ohm coil is now a 2.0 ohm coil, so now you are only producing burning 8 watts at the 4 volt setting, and probably have to up your voltage a tad. My last coil build measured 1.5 ohms. After 3 days of vape it now measures 1.7 ohms am running it at 4.2 volts yielding 10.37 watts. You'll find your own personal preference for different flavors of juice.

That said, the main trick for a long lasting trouble free Protank coil, is to allow at least 15 minutes, on a fresh coil head, for your flavor wicks to be saturated with juice, before the first vape. By following this simple trick, when I still used the PT, I was able to vape a PT dang near dry, for over two weeks without changing or tending to the coil. Also rinsing out the tank, every other fill, will help maintain juice flavor and help prolong coil life.

With most juices, I turn it up as high as possible without getting a burnt taste. But then again, some juices taste better at lower wattage.

That's so funny!! Think we all did the same thing, but for me, when ever I come to this forum, I always start here in the new members section. It's always great to scan the first page for new people and interesting threads. Then I'll check on comments and likes to posts I've participated in and for items and products I'm interested in. But I always come back here. Try to pay back what I've gleaned so far. Still a newbie, only been a member since the beginning of Sept. and vapping for about 5 months.

I initially found EFC when I started searching for tips and tricks on tanks and looking for reviews on VV pvd's. Many of the search results ended up here. Found loads of great info so decided to join.

Looks like 3.6-4.0 with a 1.8 coil is working best for me. Any higher its getting too hot or at least with the juice I'm vaping atbthe moment.

Crawl before you Run!

It is easy to bump up a little while looking for the Sweet Spot. if you get a light burnt taste you back off just a bit and Vape it clear.

Crank it up all at once and you might wreck the wick before you can correct the problem. Fast way to ruin your day.

A good starting point is always 1.8-2 Volts over Ohms, so:

1.8ohms - start at 3.8v and work up if desired.

Remember no 2 wicks will necessarily act identical.

Start at 3.6v and see how you like it. What kind of juice are you using? Tobaccos and coffees can take more heat than fruit flavors.
